The fact that players could not play the latest installment of Sim-City offline was one of the main reasons why EA received a lot of criticism. This criticism is mainly due to the fact that EA's servers were not prepared for the initial influx of players, so in the first weeks some of them could hardly play the game at all, even if they paid for the game. Therefore, a year after the release, EA announces that support for Offline mode will be added in the next update, completely free of charge for all SimCity players.

The offline version will be part of the upcoming Update 10 and, according to the official statement, it will support all additions that have been released for SimCity so far. The offline game will be able to be started using the Single Player Mode button and all played games will be saved to local storage, whereas until now they were saved exclusively to EA's servers. However, if you play single player and connect to the Internet at the same time, you will be able to use other benefits, including access to tables, the Global Market and multiplayer. At the same time, EA points out that the offline mode is a very good thing for the community of modders that EA values. The modifications created by users are something that can transform the game, enrich it and make the game unique for each player. Already as an example, EA is promoting the Central Train Station modification from a user named Oppie85.
