The Asian server DigiTimes published a new report today, in which it informs about one of the main reasons for the shortage of pieces of the new iPad mini s Retina display. The lack of pieces is, according to many, the reason why Apple nestrenewed no firm release date for this iPad, instead stating that it will start selling it sometime in November/November. The authenticity of the information was also confirmed by our source, according to whom it should be iPad mini s Retina dispejom will start selling in limited quantities in the second half of next month.

Citing its sources, DigiTimes claims that Sharp is responsible for the availability problem. He should produce 40% of all Retina displays for iPad mini and according to supply chain sources, using the Oxide TFT process, Sharp can only produce a small number of displays today. The other 60% of production falls under the LG Display company, which uses the a-Si process for production. Apple thus, it currently only works with two display suppliers, while before the announcement, AU Optronics and Innolux also tried to get a contract for the production of displays. However, both companies did not meet the conditions, so today AU Optronics only produces displays for the first generation iPad mini.

But the situation with displays is the case of the iPad Air much better and that's why Apple has set a sales launch date of November 1, 2013. Additionally, sources told DigiTimes that the production of displays for iPad Air will be provided by LG Display and Samsung Display, while LGD also in this case produces 60% of all displays and Samsung Display makes the other 40% of displays.
