If you are using FacebookInstagram Messenger or Threads, you may have noticed interesting news in the last hours and days through a notification in one of these applications. Meta has started to make a redesigned account system called Meta Account available to Czech users, which aims to significantly simplify login, personal data management and security across individual services. And although at first glance it may seem that this is just another change in the settings of social networks, in reality the news is much more interesting. Meta is trying to create one central account through which you will be able to manage practically its entire ecosystem. In a way, it is moving towards a solution that we have known for many years, for example from Applu in the form of Apple account.

At the outset, I must emphasize that Meta Account is not completely new. Meta has introduced it in a revised form. officially introduced in April this year, when it also announced that its implementation would be gradual over a period of approximately one year. And as it now appears, tooneIt is also being rolled out to users in the Czech Republic, who can use the new account form via the website. meta.com/accountHowever, it should be noted that this does not mean that it is already available to everyone. Meta is gradually making the new feature available, so some users may still see the original Account Center.

As for the new features that Meta Account brings, the first thing is the unification of login and management of individual services. In other words, instead of having to deal with login details for each service separately, Facebook, Instagram or other applications, you will be able to use one account and possibly also a common password. Not only are supported FacebookInstagram Messenger and Threads, but also Meta AI, smart glasses with artificial intelligence, and Meta Quest headsets.

Interestingly, unifying accounts will not be mandatory. For example, if you use Facebook and Instagram separately and you don't want to link them, you can keep it that way. You won't need to create new profiles or transfer content. Your existing accounts, posts, photos, and followers will remain intact.

In addition to making login more convenient, Meta has also focused on security. The new system will allow you to use the so-called passkeys or access keys, which will allow you to log in, for example, via Face ID, Touch ID or the security of the device itself. This eliminates the need to enter a classic password every time you log in, which is absolutely great news for me personally. Passkeys I use it more or less everywhere I can, and I have to say that it is a really comfortable way to log in.

Moreover, support for access keys is also being extended to Instagram, while Facebook a Messenger already support this technology. Meta Account will also offer clearer two-step verification management, alerts for suspicious logins, and security recommendations to help users better protect their accounts.

Another advantage is the unified personal data settings. This will allow you to manage, for example, associated email addresses, passwords, some advertising preferences or linking individual profiles in one place. This means that you will not have to switch between several applications and search for where a specific item is located. However, this does not mean that all settings will be moved to one place. For example, the visibility of posts on Facebookor tagging options on Instagram photos will remain part of the settings of specific applications.

A separate chapter is WhatsApp, which also belongs to Meta, but its inclusion in the new system will be voluntary. If you have previously linked it to the Account Center, this link can also be transferred to Meta Account. Otherwise, however WhatsApp it will remain separate until you decide to add it yourself.

Personally, I think unifying accounts is a logical step that should have been expected a long time ago. Meta now runs so many apps and devices that managing each service separately is becoming unnecessarily complicated, and if it manages to set up the new system correctly, it could be just as convenient for users as Apple an account that allows you to log in once and then use the entire ecosystem Applu. The difference is of course that Meta Account will not create one common profile for all services, but will primarily offer their simpler management, but even so, it is a nice solution for me. If you want to check whether the new feature is already available to you, you can head directly to official Meta Account website or check your account settings in Facebookon or Instagram.
