Apple continues to regularly clean up the list of older devices for which it no longer provides standard service. This time, three Macs have been added to the list of obsolete products, among which we find one rather important model – MacBook Air (Retina, 13″, 2018). So the first ever MacBook Air, with which Apple switched to Retina display and practically launched the modern form of this product line. Along with it Apple newly marked 13″ as obsolete as well MacBook Pro from 2018 with four Thunderbolt 3 ports and 13″ MacBook Pro from 2017 with two Thunderbolt 3 ports. All three computers were previously classified as discontinued or "vintage", but now they have moved up a category.

What does this mean for owners?
The difference between a discontinued and an obsolete product is quite significant. Apple designates a device as discontinued after more than five years from the end of its distribution and as obsolete after more than seven years. For obsolete products, Apple By default, hardware service is terminated and authorized service centers cannot order spare parts for them.

There is one important exception, however. For Mac laptops, Apple offer battery replacement up to ten years after the end of distribution of the given model, of course only if it still has the necessary parts available. Just MacBook Air 2018 is probably the most interesting of the three. Apple for the first time in the history of this series, he used 13,3″ Retina display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, Touch ID, significantly thinner bezels and an overall more modern design. Inside was a dual-core Intel Core i5 and the base configuration offered a 128GB SSD.
