Apple has made another very interesting purchase that could significantly change the future of its products, and what's more, this time it has a Czech footprint. The American giant has bought the Brno-based company PlasmaSolve, which specializes in simulations of plasma technologies used in the production of durable metal surfaces.

Founded in 2016, PlasmaSolve has developed MatSight software that can simulate PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) and PECVD processes, technologies used to deposit extremely thin but highly durable protective layers on metal components. Apple It already uses them today, for example, in the production of some parts of its devices, but the acquisition should help it significantly improve the entire process.  The goal may be to produce devices with more scratch-resistant, lighter, and thinner metal chassis. That's where Apple has been working intensively in recent years. New production methods could thus be reflected in future generations iPhone, Mac, iPad or Apple Watch. However, this is an estimate based on the company's technology and the use of PVD processes to date. Applu – the company did not disclose specific plans.

It's interesting, that Apple The company was purchased by its subsidiary in April of this year, but the information has only now become public thanks to European regulatory documents. Apple Furthermore, it traditionally does not comment much on similar acquisitions and only confirms most of them when it is legally necessary.

PlasmaSolve is not a large company. According to available information, it employed only a few specialists in materials engineering, simulations and plasma technologies. But it was their know-how that probably made it possible. Apple was most interested. If new technologies can be used in practice, future products can offer not only a more elegant design, but also greater durability without the need to increase their weight.
