The Files app is one of the most useful features on your iPhone, but many people use it as just a basic document manager. But it actually offers a lot more. We've picked out five features that can make your daily work much easier.

Signing documents

Need to quickly sign a PDF, highlight text, or annotate an image? There’s no need to install another app. Just open a file in the Files app and tap the pencil icon. Annotation mode opens, where you can write, draw, highlight text, or add your own signature. It’s all done right in the document, and your changes are saved instantly.

Favorite folders

If you often work with the same folders, you don't have to search for them every time. Just long-press on the selected folder and select Add to Favorites from the menu. The folder will then appear in the Favorites section and you will always have it at hand without having to go through lengthy directories.

ZIP in a few seconds

iPhone can create ZIP archives without any third-party apps. In the Files app, tap Select, select the documents you want to combine, and select Compress from the three-dot menu. In no time, a ZIP file will be created in the same folder, which you can easily send via email or any of your communication apps.

Scanner in your pocket

The Files app can also replace a regular scanner. On the tab Proviewing, open the three-dot menu and select Scan documents. iPhone automatically detects paper edges, straightens perspective, and saves the resulting document as a PDF. This feature is great for digitizing contracts, receipts, invoices, or handwritten notes.

Connecting to the server

If you have a NAS at home or a shared network storage at work, you can connect to it directly from the Files app. On the Probrowsing, select Connect to Server, enter the server address (for example, in the form smb://192.168.1.100) and log in with your details. Then you can work with remote files almost as conveniently as with documents stored directly on your iPhone or iCloudu. Pro For users who work from home or often transfer large amounts of data, this is one of the most useful features of the entire application.
