When Apple on Thursday shortly after noon he turned off his Online Store, no one paid much attention to this matter. Introducing new products so early in the summer is almost impossible, and in the past, it has repeatedly launched the first wave of its Back to School campaign during this period, which allows students to buy its products with various bonuses. However, when Online Store started again, the world was in for a cold shower in the form of an increase in the price of many products, led by Macs and iPads. While the price increase for some is relatively negligible, for others we are talking about such a price increase that they almost cease to make sense. In my opinion, the second category also includes MacBook Neo, who Apple It was introduced a good quarter of a year ago as a cheap ticket to the world of Macs, only to kill it off a few months later by increasing the price. And in my opinion, that's a huge shame.

I'm not going to lie to you. When it landed on my desk a few months ago MacBook Neo to test, as a user who is largely its target group, I was absolutely thrilled with it. My job is primarily toancof the metal type, with the fact that I have been using it for a long time MacBooky Air, which I have often told myself in the past are actually quite unnecessarily good in the sense that I can't use them anyway maximum. MacBook Neo starting at $599 (in the Czech Republic 16,990 CZK) with 256GB of storage, or in a higher configuration at $699 (in the Czech Republic 19,990 CZK) with 512GB of storage and Touch ID It made a lot of sense to me practically from the moment it was performed.
When I subsequently started using it as my primary work machine for review purposes, I didn't encounter anything in terms of performance that would impress me as the owner. Airon the M3 with 8GB RAM, it was somewhat limiting. Sure, a few minor things like the absence of MagSafe or keyboard backlighting dampened my enthusiasm a bit, but I was still excited about this machine with an incredibly good price tag and I wasn't afraid to recommend it to anyone with similar needs. But that's changing now.
Price MacBookfor Neo it jumped by $100 to $699 and $799, respectively, and in the Czech Republic to CZK 19,990 and CZK 22,990, respectively. At first glance, that still doesn't seem like much, but there's one major catch – you can still find a lot of new ones on the market. MacBooků Air M4, which are, willy-nilly, better in terms of parameters than MacBook Neo and it is literally a thousand crowns more expensive for lower units. For example, you can now get it on Alza MacBook Air M4 with 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, backlit keyboard, MagSafe and other better features for 23 CZK, in case of using the redemption bonus then even for only 21,290 CZK. And I dare say that it is precisely the elimination of the larger price difference that now MacBook Neo kills, or miniIt will do a lot of damage to the store.
Yes, of course I know that even at the time of its entry into the market it was possible MacBooky Air you could get it at various discounts for a resale, but the price difference was still greater at that time – you had to pay around 6000 CZK extra. But now the situation is such that if you have electronics for sale, you only have to throw in a grubby 1300 CZK and instead of the basic MacBookon Neo with 8GB RAM, mobile chip, missing Touch ID or do you get a non-illuminated keyboard Air The M4, which is simply a piece of equipment that is available elsewhere and for which it is simply worth paying extra (even up to the aforementioned 23,790 CZK).

It is clear to me that if Apple he wouldn't have had to, he wouldn't have started raising prices. After all, while the competition has been raising prices for months, he bravely held on to the original ones for a really long time despite all the surrounding influences. However, I wonder if he would have done it just for MacBookNeo was not from the side Apple a better move would be to reduce the margin, or rather cover the higher price of memory chips from your own pocket, than to increase its price, because this machine suddenly loses what made it a hit. Because of course it can be made this cheaply MacBook Air M4 (and in various promotions also M5) can be found not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the rest of the world. The golden times of the Neo model are perhaps those there and with them quite possibly an interesting future of cheap Apple products. Neo initially showed that this type of product could be the way to reach people, but now it is closing again.
Price increase at Neo with old iPhone chip or Apple TV even older iPhoneThe chip is difficult to justify in the current crisis.
But the crisis has nothing to do with chips, it has to do with memory, both operational and classic storage...
