The future of products Vision may be much more modest than it seemed a year ago. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo published updated overview of upcoming devices, according to Apple significantly scaled back its plans for wearable augmented reality.

Last year Kuo claimed that Apple is working on seven different products belonging to the family Vision. One of them was Vision Pro s M5 chip, which has now arrived on the market. However, according to his new information, only two projects from the originally ambitious map remain in active development.

The first ones should be light smart glasses without display, which should come to the market in 2027. The second is a more advanced model with support for augmented reality, which is now expected to be launched around 2029. According to Kuo, it will use optical waveguides, a technology that can project an image directly into the user's field of view.

It is also interesting to whom the analyst attributes the decision to rework the entire project. In his post on the social network X, he stated that the extensive revision of the development plan was to be approved by the future CEO Appby John TernusThis in itself attracted a lot of attention because Apple has not yet officially announced any change in leadership.

At the same time, Kuo does not mention the next generation at all in his new review Vision ProThis is in direct contradiction to the information of journalist Mark Gurman from the agency Bloombergwho wrote this week that Apple is still working on a lighter and thinner successor to the current headset. According to Gurman, however, the novelty should not appear before 2028 or 2029. He has also previously stated that Apple is shifting most of its efforts to the development of smart glasses and the project of another Vision Pro recedes into the background.

The difference between the two sources may have a simple explanation. It is possible that Apple is indeed working on a new headset, but it is still in the very early stages of development and has not yet made it into Kuo's reports. Another possibility is that the company has revised its plans again in recent months. A more certain picture could be provided by the upcoming developer conference WWDC. It is expected that Apple will introduce the system visionOS 27 and will indicate what role the products will play Vision actually play in his future strategy.
