Can you imagine using iPhone without a protective glass? Personally, I don't. I'm even more pleased that manufacturers of protective glass, despite having de facto "their certainties", are constantly trying to innovate and come up with glasses that are better than previous generations and generally more reliable. This is exactly the case with PanzerGlass with its Ceramic II glass, which I recently received for testing along with iPhone 17e. And since I have had good experiences with this glass for a long time, I was quite curious how it would "fit" with the cheaper one. iPhonem – or rather, whether PanzerGlass has skimped somewhere here.
Technical specifications and first impressions
On paper, Ceramic II sounds almost exaggerated. The manufacturer talks about five times more durability than the previous generation, thanks to the NANOCERAM material with nanocrystallization technology. Honestly, I always take such formulations with a grain of salt. But it's not just marketing here.
The glass is designed to withstand really extreme loads, such as a 320g steel ball falling from a height of 2,5 meters. Of course, this is something you probably won't test at home, but it gives a pretty good idea of where the manufacturer is going. I was able to test the resistance last fall when the glass was introduced, using clubs, steel balls, and the like, and I can only confirm the manufacturer's words. In practice, this means only one thing - you feel that your iPhone's display is more protected than ever before.
But what surprised me even more than the durability itself is how the glass performs in normal use. It is perfectly clear, does not degrade colors in any way, and thanks to the anti-reflective coating, it significantly reduces glare. In the sun, this is a really noticeable difference, and for me personally, the "performance" of the anti-reflective layer on this glass is even higher than that provided directly by the display. iPhone 17 Pro, on which I have had the glass glued since autumn. However, I am now testing it on iPhone 17e, as the glass arrived in a new type of box - specifically, in a box combined with an installation box, which is another step towards user comfort.
Testing
Applying glass is a nightmare for many people. Dust, bubbles, crooked application. But here comes the aforementioned installation frame, which in my opinion is one of the biggest benefits of the whole package. Just put it on the phone, put the glass on and you basically have nothing to mess up. The whole process takes a few dozen seconds and the result looks as if you had the glass applied somewhere in a service center. No exaggeration.

A big plus is the ability to re-glue the glass up to 200 times. I admit that I didn't test it to the limit, of course, but I did try a few times to remove and re-glue it and it worked without any problems. This is something that practically doesn't exist with regular glass.
As for the actual use, there's honestly nothing to worry about here. Protective glass often means a compromise in sensitivity or control feel. But there's nothing like that here. The touch response is immediate, precise, and most importantly, natural. If you didn't know you had something on the display, you probably wouldn't even notice it, which is largely due to the fact that the glass extends almost all the way to the edges of the device.

The comparison with classic glass is also interesting. In my opinion, Ceramic II does not feel so "hard" to the touch, it has a slightly softer character, which is more pleasant with prolonged use. At the same time, it seems to distribute energy better upon impact, which is exactly what you want from a protective glass. If you are interested in durability, since I have iPhone 17 For the same glass that just arrived for me to try out at iPhone 17e, I will tell you about my long-term experiences, which are more than good. In the last few months, my phone has fallen on the ground several times, but of course I have also placed it on a not-so-ideal surface with the screen facing down and so on. The result is that despite the worse treatment, I currently have a single visible capillary scratch on the glass, which is almost admirable to me.
If you are interested in the short-term experiences I gained from testing glass on iPhone 17e, I have to say here that even though I dragged it with me in my pocket with keys, to the workshop in the garden among screws, nails and so on, and I placed it in the garden on flower beds with stones, absolutely nothing was damaged on it and if I showed you the phone now and said that I had glued glass on it a minute ago, you would believe me. So the durability here is really considerable.

PanzerGlass Ceramic II is a protective accessory that you buy with the understanding that you never want to "use it to its full potential". Its purpose is to protect the display when something goes wrong. And that's exactly what it does extremely well. If you have a more expensive iPhone and you want peace of mind, this is one of the best choices that currently exists in my opinion. It does not force you to make any compromises, whether it is about the image, touch or the use itself. And perhaps the most important thing in the end. This is exactly the product that you will stop thinking about after sticking it. It just works. And that is probably the best business card it can have.
