Apple is planning a major upgrade for the next generation of iPad Pros that could bring them a little closer to computers. And this despite the fact that the iPads are already getting this improvement from the latest generation of iPhones. Specifically, according to the latest information, the new products, possibly planned for next year, should get a vapor chamber, a steam chamber for cooling, which Apple first used this year on the iPhone 17 Pro. At least that's what reliable reporter Mark Gurman's sources claim. Bloombergu.

He came a few hours ago specifically saying that the new cooling system should arrive with the next generation of iPad Pro powered by the M6 chip. It is to be manufactured using the latest 2nm process from TSMC, which means higher performance and efficiency, but also greater demands on heat dissipation. And since the current iPad Pro models rely only on passive cooling (like, for example, MacBooky Air), i.e., heat dissipation through the body of the device without fans, it is necessary to come up with a solution that will solve any problems caused by heat. Passive cooling guarantees quiet operation, but at the same time limits performance during long-term loads, for example when editing videos, working with 3D graphics or playing more demanding games. This is where the vapor chamber should bring a fundamental improvement.

The vapor chamber works on the principle of a liquid that evaporates in a closed system, transports the vapor to another location, and condenses there again, thereby more effectively dissipating heat from the processor over a larger area. This technology has been used for a long time in gaming laptops and competitive high-performance smartphones, and according to Gurman Apple decided to implement it in iPads after its success with iPhones. The result should be clear – longer retention maximal performance and smoother operation even in demanding applications.

If the new design proves successful, Apple is reportedly considering expanding this technology to other devices with passive cooling, such as the one just mentioned above MacBook Air. Gurman also estimates that Apple now maintains a roughly eighteen-month iPad Pro update cycle, so the new product could arrive as early as spring 2027. So it seems that Apple wants to take its most powerful tablets one step further, not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of design. And if the information is confirmed, this could be the biggest design change to the iPad Pro in recent years.
