Apple recently with iOS 26 introduced a function that can take calls for the user and convert them to text. Specifically, we are talking about a new feature called cell screening and although at first glance it is a practical solution, in our puddles and groves we encounter a fundamental problem, which is the unsupported Czech and Slovak languages. Czech and Slovak in short Applu is not a priority and it is quite likely that we will not see it in the call screening immediately, if ever. However, there is an alternative that will give you cell screening in Czech on your iPhone very conveniently. We are talking specifically about the Ghosty application, which proves that even if behind it nestNo billion-dollar development company can offer something that is paradoxically more useful for Czech users than a native solution from Appyou.

Proč Ghosty vznikl

Before I start evaluating the application, I think it would be a good idea to introduce you to the entire project. Jiří Zdvomka is behind it, and he openly admits that his own frustration with being constantly interrupted by unknown numbers led him to develop it. Instead ofoneHe wanted to have peace of mind and a clear context for his work. Apple According to him, although it confirmed that this is a problem worth solving, it does not solve the Czech language, personalization or connections with other tools. And it is in these areas that Ghosty should show its strength. And I must say that Ghosty really has strength and can attract you at first sight.

How it works

I have to admit that before installing and launching Ghosty for the first time, I didn't really know what I was getting into. After all, similar solutions are completely new on the market and I haven't really looked into them yet. I was even more pleased that the principle of the application is surprisingly simple - Ghosty works through classic call forwarding.

If the user does not answer the call or “blinks” (i.e. rejects the incoming call), the AI assistant takes over, who briefly talks to the caller, finds out the reason for the call and then delivers a brief summary to the user directly in the application. The setup itself takes no more than a minute, making using the service virtually painless. It is also interesting that, unlike the sterile solution AppGhosty offers a personal approach, as you can choose the assistant voice according to generation (Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X or Boomer), and in the premium version you can even set your own welcome message or special instructions for callers.

In other words, this means that you can preset exactly how your AI assistant should behave towards the caller, or rather what it should say to them in the beginning, so that they are more informed. And it is entirely up to you what it will be, because the AI will definitely not resist you. For example, I set the AI voice to tell the caller that I can't talk right now, but that I will get back to them as soon as possible. Thanks to this, the other party knows that I will let them know back about their inquiry.

And how does the AI assistant work when finding out the details? I have to say that it is very proactive, but at the same time natural and generally as you would expect. So it first asks the caller who they are and why they are calling, then asks them clarifying questions if necessary, or asks them if they want to tell you anything else. The caller tells the assistant everything, says goodbye to them practically like a normal person and that's it. You just get a notification that you have a summary of the incoming call available in the application, where you can read everything and that's it.

The summaries are very accurate for me, and what either I or my wife and colleagues said to the assistant on the phone appeared in the summaries so that you could then respond to the missed call in the best possible way. I also really like the fact that the AI really "understands" what you say and the questions it asks for details turn heads and tails in context. What's more, you will rarely encounter a situation where the AI does not understand your voice instructions and is not able to process them. Moreover, when this happens, you are prompted to repeat them, which is usually no problem.

As for the technical side of things, the actual forwarding of an incoming call after you reject or do not answer it is a matter of a moment, so the other party does not tend to hang up the phone thinking that they will not receive any response from you. As a result, it is very well ensured that their requests will actually reach you through call screening and you will then be able to respond to them. In addition, you can set up, for example, that incoming telemarketing calls, operator offers, and so on will be rejected immediately with a response, that they should not call you again, and so on. In short, winning is excellent with Ghosty.

Actually, the only catch is that Ghosty is currently tied to one phone number and only for GSM calls. So if you use multiple numbers (for example, personal and work), at least for now you will be limited to just one number in this regard, and you will not be able to delete FaceTime and the like (which is of course logical, but I would rather point it out). Otherwise, everything works extremely well for me personally, to the point that I am honestly surprised that something like this can be created "on the fly". If only this exact version of call screening had been brought Apple in the raw version iOS 26, I would not only be perfectly fine with it, but I would be really happy about it.

Summary

I have to say that Ghosty is by far the most interesting app I've had the opportunity to test this year as part of my reviews. In my eyes, it's a prime example of how a Czech startup can elegantly fill a gap that Apple leaves it incomprehensibly empty. The application is understandable, functional and, most importantly, speaks Czech, which is absolutely key in this category. If we add the possibility of personalization to this, we get a solution that has the potential to become an essential part of many people's daily work and personal lives. So if you are tired of constantly picking up unknown numbers and want to have control over incoming calls toonestrictly controlled, Ghosty is definitely worth trying.
