Google Photos comes to life with Veo 2
Google Photos is introducing a new “Photo to video” feature that will allow you to turn selected photos into short videos. The Veo 2 will do just that , adding subtle movements, facial expressions, and other animations. Users can choose from “ Subtle movements ” or “ I'm feeling lucky ” to give their photos a new lease of life.
The new feature is available today in the Google Photos app for iOS and Android. The feature will be added in the coming weeks "Remix", which uses AI to change the style of the photo – you will be able to choose anime, comic, sketch or 3D animation.
Both features will be available in the new “Create” tab . All AI-generated content will automatically be digitally watermarked with the SynthID to make it clear that it is generated material.

YouTube Shorts will bring drawings and selfies to life
The “Photo to video” feature is also coming to YouTube Shorts . Creators can use their own photos to create moving content suitable for short vertical videos. Google promises that the resulting videos will animate static photos , add movement to landscapes , or bring group shots to life.
In addition, a set of new effects will be available that will turn drawings into realistic images or selfies into original short videos. Users will find these effects in the “Effects” section directly in Shorts.
The features are rolling out starting today and will be available for free in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand . Expansion to other regions, including the Czech Republic, is expected later. Google continues the trend of using artificial intelligence for creative tools for everyday users and confirms that AI has its place in consumer entertainment.
