If you pay for parking, especially in a new city or country, be very careful. Often, you will only find information at parking zones that payment is possible using a QR code. At best, this will redirect you to an application, at worst (in terms of fraud) it will redirect you directly to a payment gateway. Fraudsters have started to use this, who paste over the original official QR codes with their own. These then lead to fraudulent sites, where at best you will just pay a few crowns for parking to someone other than you should, and so in addition to being scammed, with a little bit of luck you will also get a fine. At worst, you will not pay via Apple Pay, but you enter your credit card information into a page that your QR code redirects to and misuses that information. It's no problem to lose €1000 or more for one parking ticket.
The problem is especially that if you arrive in, for example, Italy or Franceancie, you don't speak the local language very well and need to park somewhere after a long journey, you won't be as attentive as the locals and then there is a risk that a well-made website will confuse you and you will simply pay a scammer. Always check whether the QR code has been pasted over. Once you scan it, check where it links to and whether it is an official website. Usually, you just need to copy the link into Google and you will find out whether it is an original payment system or a scam. It is then ideal to always use an application such as EasyPark or similar, which work in most countries in Europe or even the world.
I'm still dealing with this.
I haven't encountered it (but I understand that some have) thanks for the tip!
