YouTube, which is part of Google, announced this week that it has started testing a new feature in search results. It is cara video clip ousel that uses artificial intelligence to display the most relevant parts of videos directly in the results list.

According to YouTube, AI will analyze videos and play selected clips to best match the query. This may mean that users won't have to click through the entire video to find the information they need. Unlike AI insights in Google Search, YouTube won't summarize videos, but will only pull out specific segments. It's not yet clear whether this new feature will lead to more interest in full videos or, conversely, reduce the number of times they are played. Experience with AI integration into Google Search shows that the impact on site traffic can be significant, so here too we can expect an impact on the behavior of viewers and video creators.

The feature is currently being tested with a small sample of YouTube Premium users searching in English. AI clips are most likely to appear when searching for products or tips for things to do and places, such as "best noise cancelling headphones" or "museums to visit in San Francisco". YouTube has not yet specified what criteria will be used to select clips. However, if the feature expands, video creators may have another factor in the future that will influence how to optimize their content.
