Design and durability
At first glance, it is obvious that JBL Flip 7 remains faithful to the popular cylindrical shape that we are used to with this series. The Squad (camouflage) design looks very stylish and will appeal especially to those who want something original and at the same time suitable for nature. The surface fabric is recycled and has a sturdy impression, which is complemented by the rubberized edging on the sides. This is what protects the speaker from falls and ensures waterproofness and dustproofness corresponding to the IP68 class. In addition to the standard waterproofness, JBL has also added more robust shock protection, thanks to which, according to the manufacturer, the speaker can handle a fall from a height of up to one meter onto concrete. Of course, this is a feature that I do not intend to test.

It also uses new patented AI Sound Boost technology that analyzes the music you're playing in real time and adjusts the performance so that the sound remains clear and dynamic even at higher volumes. Battery life is crucial for portable speakers and Flip 7 is definitely not far behind in this regard. You get 14 hours of music on a single charge, and by turning on Playtime Boost you can add another 2 hours. And what is it really about? Playtime Boost is a kind of power saving mode that you can turn on directly on the speaker or in the app. Once you turn this mode on, the bass component is reduced, which adds up to 2 more hours of listening. But even in this mode, the sound is very good.
It takes approximately 2,5 to 3 hours to fully charge the speaker. So if you are planning a day trip or an outdoor party, Flip 7 will keep up with you. Also new is Auracast™, which means you can easily pair two speakers Flip 7 for a stereo effect, or even connect multiple supported JBL speakers to cover a larger area. It is also worth highlighting the presence of IP68 certification, which is not often seen in speakers. This is the highest standard of water resistance and dust resistance. Flip 7 will survive complete immersion to a depth of 1,5 meters for up to 30 minutes, and it is also designed to withstand dusty environments, which is really a good match for the reviewed Squad. variahere.

For complete control over settings and firmware updates, there is the JBL Portable app, which you can download for free at App Store whether Google Play. With it, you can update the speaker software, tune sound profiles, or manage your Auracast connection. The app is intuitive, and if you have any problems (or are looking for more tips and tricks), you can find detailed support here. It is in English, but absolutely everyone can understand it. There is also an equalizer, where you can adjust the treble, midrange, and bass. If you play around with the values a little, you can customize the musical performance of the JBL Flip 7 really suits every style. Another plus is that you don't have to register.
First power-on and pairing
The speaker is turned on with a short jingle, and as soon as the Flip 7 will put it into standby mode, just hold the Bluetooth button and search for it in the menu of your phone or other device. Pairing was quick and easy. As soon as you hear the acoustic prompt, you're done.
Own use
JBL Flip 7 can play surprisingly loud considering its size. In a medium-sized room (around 20 m²) it is more than enough for a very decent sound even at medium volume. The bass is dense (similar to all JBL products), the mids do not disappear and the highs retain their clarity without getting lost or overwhelming the rest of the spectrum. The benefit is the AI Sound Boost, which adjusts the sound in real time and prevents unpleasant distortion at higher volumes. Thanks to its compact size, the speaker fits well in the side pocket of a backpack. Or you can simply click it onto the strap using the included carabiner.
Lossless playback
If you plan to listenchat When listening to high-quality music (such as lossless formats from TIDAL or other services), you'll really notice the USB-C connection. The details are a little clearer, the bass is stronger. But if you're not particularly demanding, regular listening via Bluetooth will suffice, which is excellent.
