Although it will start Apple officially sell the new iPhones 16e only tomorrow at 8 am our time, as is customary, the phone was lent to a number of foreign YouTubers and reviewers, thanks to which we can get a very good idea of the new product in advance. The information embargo has already ended and the first impressions and reviews of this phone are already out.
In general, the appearance and display of Face ID Reviewers praise it, as well as the use of the A18 chip with 8GB of RAM. However, the absence of MagSafe or a better camera is annoying considering the price of $599 or 16,990 CZK in the Czech Republic. ProSo while you won't be concerned about performance, even though the A18 in the iPhone 16e has one fewer graphics core than the 16 and 16 Plus models, for example, such a cameraonec can still disappoint. And not only because of the absence of another lens.
This is exactly what YouTuber MKBHD points out in his review, for example, who managed to find out that the iPhone 16e's camera sensor is significantly smaller than the one on the iPhone XNUMX. Apple used in the iPhone 16, which results in greater depth of field, but also poorer camera performance when taking photos in poor lighting conditions. However, this ailment is trying Apple catch up software-wise through night mode, which launches earlier than other models and can visually improve photos nicely.
The Verge reviewer feels the camera of the new product similarly to MKBHD, but he is not afraid to say that despite its compromises, the vast majority of users who take this phone will still be thrilled with the resulting photos, because they look really good. The same goes for videos, of course. If you are interested in the functionality of the first Apple The C5 1G modem works well according to reviewers. According to The Verge, the functionality of connecting to 5G networks for sending files, video calls, and the like is comparable and sometimes even better than that offered by the iPhone 16 with 5G modems from Qualcomm.
CNET also praised the C1 modem, with its reviewer specifically contrasting it with iPhone 16e with iPhonem 16 Pro Max equipped with a Qualcomm modem. And while in speed measurement via Speed Test, Ookla would win by a slight margin iPhone 16 Pro Max, in real use when sending photos and so on, it won iPhone 16E. Modem from AppThere is definitely no need to worry about it, as its functionality, at least for now, appears to be completely problem-free and not only can it compare to the Qualcomm solution, but sometimes even surpasses it, which is not a bad result for the first public generation of the modem.
The main star of the reviews was, as expected, the battery life, which Engadget, for example, cannot praise. According to its reviewer, the phone was subjected to a really intensive test, which was supposed to simulate everyday active use, but it still lasted more than 24 hours without any problems. Youtuber MKBHD also agrees with these words, according to which the phone is a perfect "holder" that will definitely please fans of phones with long battery life.
On the other hand, in almost all reviews there is a consistent criticism of the absence of MagSafe, which for many is a problem given that this element Apple has been using since 2020 and the arrival of the iPhone 12, is completely incomprehensible. Due to the lack of Qi2 support (in other words, the lack of magnetic charging á la MagSafe), only 7,5W is available for wireless charging, which is unpleasantly slow and at the same time the phone heats up significantly during this charging. So if we add to this certain compromises with the camera, the price of the phone is set quite high according to reviewers, and it is a question of how successful the phone will be in sales even with this in mind.

How come you don't have it in advance so that there can be a review now when you are a website that focuses on sometimes Apple?
It doesn't always work out. We had this last year, for example MacBook Air M3 :)
For me, the saddest and least understandable thing about the overpriced 16e (apart from the MagSafe minus) is the missing UWB chip, so among other things, no locally accurate original AirTag, car unlocking, etc. and also lack of support for the Thread protocol not only for smart homes. This Apple It really didn't work :(
If you want these features, why would you even buy an e-series product?
On the contrary, I would shorten the e-mail even more and also put it in the body 13 mini. ProPerfect for active people who don't need to unlock their car with their phoneoneI have to do similar useless things on the phone.onem. And they will prefer a small, compact device in their pocket. ProYou can have a phone for normal everyday use.
The majority of the global market, even in terms of demographics, is and increasingly will be primarily in Asia, where screens under 6″ have long been out of fashion.ancii for the simple reason that it is often the only communicator and computer not only for the owner, but also for his entire family.
Likewise in the domestic States and thirdly in EMEA, where "success" 12/13 mini not convinced how Apple top management and major investors to continue them, so the final stop, unfortunately.
Regarding circumcision 16e, Apple costcutters have reached the very core here andKosyou. Or what else do you think they could have thrown away? ;-)
By the way, 12 and 13mini They have a UWB chip, just like all iPhones starting with the 11 (of course, except for iPhones based on max. eight). 16e is unfortunately the first iCrippled downgrade :-(
"...which results in a shallower depth of field"
Bigger, Jiří, bigger. Probably a typo, but a smaller chip leads to a greater depth of field (at the same lens angle of view), i.e. less separation of the foreground from the background. TJ everything will be sharper without software adjustment.
Thanks for the warning. Hands write faster than heads think. You're right, of course. :)
