The days when streaming services kept the same price for years are apparently gone forever. It is a bit of an exaggeration to say that in recent years, practically all streaming companies have been taking turns raising prices, and after the recent announcement of a price increase by Slovak Voyo, Netflix is now following suit. This is happening about a year and a quarter after the last price increase by this giant.

Netflix is only raising subscription prices in four countries in the world (specifically the USA, Canada, Portugal and Argentina), but given that it has always raised prices across the board in the past, it is more or less clear that sooner or later we will also pay more for the service here. As for the specific price increase, it has increased for all tariffs, with the basic one increasing by $1, the medium one by $1,50 and the highest one by $2. So if Netflix follows the same strategy here, we should expect an additional charge of around CZK 25 to 50, which would mean that:

  • Basic: now 239 CZK per month/ after price increase maybe 259 – 269 CZK per month (if Netflix wants to end the price with a nine)
  • Standard: now 309 CZK per month/ after price increase possibly 349 CZK per month
  • Premium: now 379 CZK per month/ after price increase possibly 429 CZK per month

However, it should be added that in the USA there is no longer a basic tariff without ads, so the price has increased there from the lowest tariff with ads. It is therefore a question of whether or not this will be reflected in pricing in countries where Netflix also does not have ads. The question also remains when the delay will reach us. Netflix does not state this anywhere, leaving its subscribers in uncertainty in this regard.
