The iPhone 15 has been around for a year. In the third quarter of this year, it managed to become the best-selling smartphone in the world, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro models shared the other medal positions.

iPhones are among the most popular smartphones in the world, dominating the sales charts in almost every country. Typically, iPhone sales slow in the third quarter as consumers delay their purchases in anticipation of new iPhone launches. However, in recent years, iPhones have benefited from strong demand even during June to September. The latest report from Counterpoint Research confirms this, with iPhones occupying the top three spots in the list of the best-selling smartphones in the world in the third quarter of 2024. The biggest demand was for the base model iPhone 15, which took 3,6% of the market. The iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro models followed, the most expensive phones Apple. Also importantly, the said report claims that for the first time ever, Pro models will account for half of iPhone sales in the third quarter of 2024. This has helped boost the company's average selling price (ASP) Apple. That's not surprising, especially since iPhone 15 Pro variants have dominated shipments since their launch last year.

Despite the iPhone's strong performance in the third quarter of 2024, the results are not as good as in the third quarter of 2023. Last year, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 occupied the top four spots, which is not the case this year. Apple saw a slight decline in market share, all thanks to its main rival, Samsung. Samsung device Galaxy she took five out of ten places, but with an exception Galaxy S24 were cheap models. On the other hand, this is the first time since 2018 that a flagship phone Galaxy saw strong demand in the third quarter of the year. Usually, the demand for these models decreases after a few months after the launch. The Xiaomi Redmi 13C, another budget phone, was the only device out Apple and Samsung, which made the top ten.
