I quite often hear opinions in my environment that the technological world is slowing down, i.e. miniin terms of innovations in classic consumer electronics. While years ago innovations were much more visible and tangible, in recent years, according to some people, they have been moving their products forward very slowly, while Apple is unfortunately no exception in this regard. Whether you agree with this opinion or not, it is good to look back from time to time and realize where technology has actually come to in recent years and that what we could have thought of so little a few years ago is now maxWhat was once only a dream is now a reality. We just may not be as aware of it as we should be.

A great example is the extreme increase in the performance of electronics. If you are a fan of game consoles like me and have been playing on them for a while, you will definitely agree with me when I say that playing on Xboxes, for example, One, or rather PlayStationech 4 is a great experience, especially because the graphics of the games that can be run on them are not bad at all. If you are a little older, you will agree with me that it is almost unbelievable how far the video game world has moved during its existence. I have vivid memories of the times when I "crushed" FIFA 2000 or the original Mafia on my computer, but now we rather laugh at the graphics of these games.

And that brings us to the crux of this article. The consoles we played on years ago, and some of you probably still play on, are actually less powerful than the latest iPhones. If we were to compare the graphics performance in Tflops of the Xbox One (S) or PlayStation 4, we would find that it is significantly lower than the performance of iPhones 16 (Pro), which Apple showed recently. Of course, the comparison is not absolutely fair, since we are talking about products that are separated by 11 years, and also about the fact that the console can maintain this performance thanks to active cooling and so on, but it is still quite an interesting view to where the world has moved technologically.

In the duel between the original Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 had a performance advantage over the PlayStation 4 console. Here's a quick comparison:

  • Xbox One: The GPU performed approx 1,31 teraflops.
  • PlayStation 4: The GPU performed approx 1,84 teraflops.

Thanks to its higher teraflops, the PlayStation 4 had better graphics performance, which was reflected in higher quality graphics in some games, especially at higher resolutions. Both consoles had 8 GB of RAM, but the PlayStation 4 used the faster GDDR5 memory type, while the Xbox One it used slower DDR3, which also affected performance. And how do current iPhones fare in terms of Tflops?

Xbox One Controllers 10

The current generation of iPhones

  • iPhone 16 – 2,15 Tflops
  • iPhone 16 Pro – 2,4 Tflops

Old generation consoles:

  • Xbox One – 1,3 TFlops
  • Xbox One S – 1,4 TFlops
  • Xbox One X  – 6,0 TFlops
  • Playstation 4 – 1,84TFlops
  • PlayStation 4 Pro - 4,2 TFlops

Current generation of consoles:

  • Xbox series s – 4,0 TFlops
  • Xbox Series X – 12,16 TFlops
  • PlayStation 5 – 10,28 Tflops

And just for fun. Power brick for the original Xbox One It was quite large and sturdy, measuring approximately 17 cm long, 7,5 cm wide and 5 cm high, and weighed about 900 grams. This power adapter had a power output of around 220 watts. Newer models such as the Xbox One With and Xbox One X already has a power adapter built right inside the console, so an external power brick is not needed. iPhone 16 dimensions Pro They are only approximately 15 x 7,1 x 0,8 cm and weigh 199 grams. In 11 years of technological progress, a device has been created that is better in performance than the Xbox. One and yet smaller than its source.
