Last Friday, the world was paralyzed by a giant IT outage that stopped operations at many airports, but also in train transport, shops, banks, hospitals and many other places. At first, it seemed that an error in the operating system was to blame for everything Windows, as computers with this system began to report to service, but it soon became clear that this was not the case. The collapse of the computers was caused by the anti-virus software of the company Crowdstrike, which just a moment before the computers began to collapse, released an update containing the imaginary trigger of this disaster. And problems fall on the head of this company all the time.
After the world slowly recovered from the outage, Crowdstrike put a symbolic crown on the whole affair. The company's management sent out a thank-you note to its employees.ancand partners for the extra work they had to do during the outage and its solution in the form of developing a fix, an absolutely ridiculous reward. For working under extreme pressure, where literally every second mattered, these people received an Uber Eats voucher worth $10, or about CZK 230. In addition, the voucher code stopped working after a few hours, so those who did not use the reward immediately were out of luck. It is probably therefore not surprising that the reaction of both employees andancs, so the general public are very embarrassed, but in all cases quite critical. For example, one of the employeesancCrowdstrike wrote on the Reddit discussion platform with exaggeration that he wanted to kill himself because of how much work the outage caused him, and as a thank you for his work, the company bought him a coffee. So Crowdstrike is not really experiencing good times, but it is true that he largely blames himself for this.
