It's almost unbelievable, but a whole month has passed since the launch of the option to prove your citizenship on your mobile phone. Czechs were first given this option on January 20, 2024, while the day before, they could already use it from App Store a Google Play download the eDoklady application, which enables the digitization of their physical ID card. And it seems that the popularity of this solution is certainly not small, even though it is currently being accepted by only relatively few authorities.

According to the statement of the Digital and Information Agency (DIA) for Czech Television, more than 286 users have already downloaded the application, who can now prove their citizenship on their mobile phones at selected authorities. What's great is that over 340 institutions, which are not part of the first "mandatory" round of accepting e-citizens in mobile phones, have nevertheless decided to voluntarily start accepting them and thus de facto popularize this possibility of identity verification. If you are interested in, for example, when the police will start accepting IDs on mobile phones, it should happen from July 1 of this year. However, there are rumors in the corridors that the police are also planning to start accepting female citizens voluntarily a few months earlier.
