For these purposes, you can use the Sets function, which cleverly arranges everything so that you have a beautifully tidy Mac desktop, but at the same time you always have everything you need at hand. You can activate the sets very simply - right-click on the Mac desktop and select Use sets.

Grid alignment

Using a grid on your Mac desktop is a simple yet effective way to keep your desktop organized. This step is familiar to most users, but it's still useful to remember. When you have scattered icons on your desktop and you just want to compare them without doing more complex operations with them, the grid is the right choice.

To use the grid, simply right-click on the desktop and select an option from the menu Sort by -> Align to Grid. The icons on the desktop may not seem changed at first glance, but when you start moving one of them with the cursor and then let go, it immediately automatically aligns itself according to the imaginary grid. In this way, you have the opportunity to quickly and easily clean up all the icons on the desktop in an orderly and clear arrangement.

To perform this action, open a Terminal and type the following command: defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop false; killall Finder. Then press Enter. This simple command will disable the desktop content display.

However, it is important to note that this method should not be considered a permanent solution as it limits certain desktop-related features. If you need to see your desktop items again, you can use FinderTo revert back to the original state, enter the opposite command in Terminal: defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop true; killall Finder. This will re-enable the display of content on the desktop.

This option to hide the desktop in Terminal is useful in cases where you need to temporarily free up the workspace and focus on specific tasks. However, it is advisable to be cautious when using this command as a permanent solution in order to maintain full desktop functionality and easy access to important files.
