Not everything the European Union is trying to implement is outright negative for users. Although, for example, the regulation of a single charging port, the opening of iOS stores with third-party applications and the like can to some extent be perceived as relatively controversial news, what is now being prepared in the EU is definitely not to be dismissed. This is a revolution in complaints, which is to significantly reduce the amount of electronic waste in the future. And this is to be achieved precisely by making it more meaningful for users to repair their electronics instead of buying new ones, which is to be more affordable in the case of post-warranty repairs and much more accessible in the case of warranty repairs.

The press release of the Council of the European Union states specifically: "The wording agreed today requires manufacturers to make necessary repairs within a reasonable time. If the service is not provided free of charge, they should also perform it at a reasonable cost so that consumers have an incentive to opt for the repair. According to the agreed wording consumers still have the right to within the warranty period provided by the seller choose between repair and replacement defective products. If the consumer decides to repair the goods, the seller's liability period is extended by 12 months from the moment the product is brought into compliance. Member States may further extend this period. So if everything goes well in the EU, which already seems very likely, the warranty on the device will be extended after each repair minialmost a year, whereby the Czech Republic can legislate an extension of the guarantee for an even longer period.

So, if, purely hypothetically, your phone breaks just before the two-year warranty period expires, and the defect is covered by the warranty, you will get it miniAt least another year of warranty for free, and if a defect repairable under warranty occurs again, you will get another year for free and so on. The lifespan of the device could therefore be somewhat limited.one, but of course we are only talking about theories and speculations. The probability that you will constantly encounter a new and new defect that is covered by the warranty at a certain interval is of course negligible. However, it is great that thanks to the change in warranty conditions, users will have another reason to resort to repairing their existing electronics rather than buying new ones. After all, the amount of electronic waste that is generated precisely because of the reluctance or impossibility of repairs (for example, devices that break shortly after the warranty period expires due to the price of repairs being unreasonable) is definitely not negligible.
