In connection with the upcoming iOS 18 there is a lot of talk about deploying advanced artificial intelligence that will improve this system on many fronts. And as it now seems, the first AI swallow that could v iOS 18 discover, now Apple revealed - although of course without any direct connection with iOS 18. Specifically, we are talking about a new open-source artificial intelligence model that is capable of editing images based on instructions in the user's natural language.
The new AI tool is called MGIE and goes by "MLLM-Guided Image Editing" and it works by using multi-modal large language models to interpret user requests and perform manipulations at the pixel level. What can you imagine under this seemingly crazy description? Simply that whatever you dictate to the AI to do with the photo, it would automatically do that. So, for example, if you asked her to remove the background, she would automatically remove the background you don't like from that photo. So it would be a bit of an exaggeration to talk about voice-controlled intelligent Photoshop, which sounds really cool.
Apple he collaborated with scientists from the University of California on the development of this innovation and subsequently published it on GitHub, where both the source code and training models are available. And given how interesting the whole technology is, it wouldn't be at all surprising if it did Apple decided to implement just to iOS 18 as one of his novelties. After all, it has been focusing more and more on photos in recent years with its products, so any upgrade in terms of editing would make sense on his part. But we'll see in June.
Amazing and absolutely incredible what AI can do. I would spend dozens of minutes painting this in photoshop (or elsewhere) and AI will definitely do it several times faster. People will no longer be needed for almost anything, except for physical work, and then with the boom of robotization, not even for that. Just to introduce an unconditional income for everyone, otherwise we'll starve here like homeless people :D
