Nowadays, fewer and fewer people can imagine life without the Internet on their mobile phones. In addition to entertainment, a mobile data connection also offers the possibility to communicate with the surroundings, to find out important information such as the departures of transport links and the like. Making life easier here is indeed indisputable. However, you have an idea of how much, for example, the average European consumes  monthly mobile data?

This is exactly the question asked by the telecommunications industry group GSMA, bringing together more than 1000 mobile operators and companies. The survey she had done (and which only divided Europe into Eastern and Western) showed that while Western Europeans consume an average of around 20 GB of mobile data per month, Eastern Europeans have an average consumption of around 14 GB per month. So if we talk about the average consumption of a European as such, we arrive at 17 GB of mobile data per month, which is certainly not a little. On the other hand, in today's world of streaming services, social networks or the possibility to play games via the Internet, such a consumption will probably not surprise anyone too much - all the more so when it is expected to increase steeply in the future. According to the data from the survey, it is calculated that as early as 2028, European mobile data traffic should be up to three times higher than in 2022. Specifically, the average monthly consumption in Western Europe should reach approximately 56 GB, while in Eastern Europe it should be roughly 37 GB per month. Of course, we can only guess whether similar predictions are in place or not, but it is already certain that European operators are intensively preparing for a sharp increase in the use of mobile data connections so that they are not surprised by anything in the coming years.
