One of the biggest differences between the operating system iOS from Android it is impossible to install applications outside App Store, which significantly increases its security. However, this is exactly what will change practically 100% in the foreseeable future, i.e. miniin Europe. The European Union, a few months ago, Applu has been ordered to open its operating system to third-party app stores, as the current model will soon be illegal, according to the court. The Californian giant disagrees, but the threat of draconian fines combined with a potential halt to sales in the EU has forced it to comply.onealmost 100% will be compliant just like it was with USB-C on iPhones. This is also confirmed by beta iOS 17.2.

Developers collaborating with the portal 9to5mac found in the code of the second beta iOS 17.2 specifically a new API called "Managed App Distribiton", which translates to controlled distribution of applications. By analyzing this news, they subsequently found that it was through it that they were preparing Apple ground for the introduction of support for installing third-party applications outside App StoreSpecifically, the new feature should allow iPhones to download alternative app stores, which will then allow you to download your own content and more. The beta suggests that these app stores should have more or less the same basic functionality as App Store – that is, they will be able to verify compatibility with a given device, limit the application to certain countries, automatically update applications downloaded from the store, and so on.

At this point, of course, we can only guess when exactly the new product will be available. iPhonech launched, because about it Apple has not officially said a word yet. It is also unclear who will be interested in placing their app store next to App Store, although we have heard in the past about Epic Games or Microsoftwhich could distribute games and productivity apps from the family OfficeHowever, it is likely that we will be waiting for the official announcement from AppThere is not much time left – the company must comply with EU legislation by March 2024. However, it definitely doesn't make sense to count on this new feature being available within the iOS 17.2. Apple for now, it is really just preparing the "ground" for it, as it regularly does with major software changes.
