Close ad

If it doesn't go well, it will go badly. This is exactly what Google has apparently decided to do now, which has started to actively fight on YouTube against users who use ad blockers like AdBlock in order to consume content without them. However, because of this, Google loses profits, which it has now decided to stop tolerating. And quite forcefully.

After YouTube recently started showing users using ad blockers a pop-up telling them to turn off the app to run smoothly, YouTube has now started to block ad blockers hard. While the previous pop-up window could simply be closed with a cross in the upper corner and continue watching videos with AdBlock and similar applications, now playback will be blocked after the blocker is detected until the blocker is deactivated.

youtube cracking down ad blockers

YouTube has been trying to fight against ad blocking for a long time, but only now has it apparently succeeded in developing a high-quality blocker detection tool that it is able to deploy on a global scale. There is not much to be surprised about. Advertising is what feeds Google, and blocking it is in direct conflict with YouTube's terms and conditions. Those who don't mind can subscribe to YouTube Premium and consume content without ads. However, only time will tell how quickly the novelty will spread throughout the world, i.e. how quickly it will touch all users, assuming that it is already widespread in the world.
