Apple has long been popular among users, among other things, for its long-term software support of its products. After all, offering new versions of operating systems even for five to six year old smartphones is very rare in the world. From time to time, the Californian giant surpasses itself and releases an update that targets slightly older devices. In such cases, it is not a new version of the operating system, but "just" a security update, but it still counts. That's exactly what happened last night with the release of iOS 16.3.
In addition to the new version of its latest iOS released yesterday Apple in silence and iOS 12.5.7 for iPhone 5S. Yes, you read that right. The phone, which is about 9,5 years old, has received a security update, even though it is already used very little by users and Apple could easily throw him "overboard". However, he did not do that, on the contrary, he decided to keep it at the necessary security level so that it could continue to be used. So if you own this phone - whether you use it actively or just have it in your collection - you can now find an update in Settings after years.
And simultaneously with yesterday's release of 16.3, the security update 15.7.3 for 7, 6s and SE (1st gen.) was also released ;-) https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213598
This is most likely in order to detonate them and users to switch to newer ones
I'd rather be interested in why you can't downgrade iOS for 5s on the 12 gauge, it's terrible
