Chip
While the very first Mac mini with chip Apple Silicon offered the M1 chip, so with the new Mac mini you can now choose either from the M2 chip or M2 ProThe new chips are of course more powerful than their previous generations, and they also differ in the number of cores. The M1 chip in the original Mac mini specifically offered only one variantu, with an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU. If we look at the M2 chip in the new Mac mini, so it is available in a configuration with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, if you choose the chip M2 Pro, so you can go up to a 12-core CPU and a 19-core GPU.

Memory and storage
New M2 chips and M2 Pro not only brings a higher number of cores, but also the possibility of configuring with more unified memory. While with the M1 chip it was possible to choose either 8 GB or 16 GB of unified memory, with the M2 chip you can choose from 8 GB, 16 GB and 24 GB of unified memory. As for the top chip M2 Pro, so you can choose either 16 GB or 32 GB of unified memory. The leap also came in storage, namely in the chip M2 Prowhere you can configure up to 8 TB. MaxThe minimum storage with the M2 chip is 2 TB, the same as the previous generation with the M1 chip.
Price
On the new Mac mini In addition to the new chips, we were also pleasantly surprised by the price. While the performance went up by tens of percent, the price went down by tens of percent. Basic Mac mini with the M2 chip can currently be purchased from 17 CZK, while the basic Mac mini with the M1 chip started at 21 CZK – that's a difference of a whole 990 CZK, which is really noticeable. In addition, if you are a student, you can get a new Mac mini you can buy it with an unbeatable price tag from 14 CZK. If you would like variawith M2 Pro, so the base price is 37 CZK, the top configuration is 990 CZK.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Generational differences are also visible in wireless communication.oneactivities, specifically Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. While Mac mini with the M1 chip had "only" Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, so the new Mac mini with the M2 (Pro) chip boasts the latest Wi-Fi 6E, along with Bluetooth 5.3. The connection is even faster and more stable, and of course you can use the latest features that are built on these versions. Bluetooth 5.3 is available, for example, in the new AirPods Pro second generation.

Thunderbolt and HDMI
Besides the differences between the Macs being compared mini see wireless koneactivities, so they can also be observed inonewired activities. As for theoneThunderbolt, so if you choose Mac mini with the M2 chip, you will still have two available on the back, just like the previous generation with the M1 chip. Anyway, if you reach for variawith a chip M2 Pro, so Thunderbolt toonewhich you get four of, which professionals will definitely appreciate. In addition, there have also been improvements toonewhich HDMI. While the Mac mini HDMI 1 was available with the M2.0, so the new generation with the M2 (Pro) chip now has HDMI 2.1, which brings the possibility of transmitting even higher quality images.
What is missing for perfection is the possibility to power this mac via TB (e.g. via a suitable monitor).
But I would be interested in the real difference in CPU M1 vs M2. The number of ALU, FPU units, etc. 8 cores as 8 cores, but was there any improvement in the M2? I remember jumps from 68030 to 040, etc. This is not the case today. Apple he stretched it to perfection that he doesn't even mention the clock frequency of the CPU.
Nový mini I like the M2 quite a bit for the price and am considering replacing it with it. Mac Pro with Xeonem, which is a lot of work. But will 4 cores from a mobile phone be a worthy replacement for a 6-core Xeon?
Follow the channel MaxTech on YT. Anyway, there will be a comparison of M2 vs M1 minis next week and you can have M2 vs M1 as an appetizer Air https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6F_4za7dJg + M2 vs M1 13″ Pro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srnXkD5gIOk
I assume that the results will be the same for MB mini They won't be too different ;)
I will just add that TB was in M1 mini ver. 3 and the M2 also has ver. 4 as standard :)
Just get the 256GB storage, where I count the same AP0256Z single-chip fuck as in the M2 Air/13″Pro and so the SSD speeds are half of the M1 with 2x128GB in RAID 0 (AP0256Q). If it's not confirmed, then great, but I wouldn't bet a penny on it... Whether the Zetko stinks there will be known after the teardown (min. MaxTech on YT or iFixit) next week, and if it really is (..probability unfortunately >90%...), then in the 8(or even 16)/256GB base, you'd better take the original M1 for a nice 15990,- or less :)
Only if you want it primarily for office + web + content consumption, so you don't mind the half speeds, but then there's really no point in investing in the M2, because the M1 will do EVERYTHING for you with a GIGANTIC PERFORMANCE RESERVE, even MORE so for such GREAT LOVE :)))
I bought the day before yesterday. Mac Mini 2014 for 2000 CZK, I put an SSD in it for 500, - and it works like a charm.
Thanks to the SSD, it will definitely fly, but it will definitely not perform well for advanced work Apple Silicon chips don't even reach the ankles.
