He released a few days ago Apple after several weeks of waiting, iPadOS 16 is now available to the public. This operating system, along with macOS Ventura, has been delayed, so while iOS 16 to watchOS We've been using 9 for a while now, so we can't say the same about these two systems. Of course, iPadOS 16 has a ton of new features that are definitely worth checking out, and we'll be covering them in the coming days and weeks. In this article, we'll specifically look at 5 must-know iPadOS 16 Photos tips, so let's get right to it.

Cutting out the object from the foreground

One of the most interesting features in Photos from iPadOS 16 is definitely the foreground crop feature. This feature specifically uses artificial intelligence to recognize the foreground object, which it can then cut out, i.e. practically separate from the background. While until now we needed graphics applications to do this, iPad can do it easily with a tap of your finger. Specifically, all you need to do is find and open a photo or image with the object in the foreground. Then, hold your finger on the object to select it, and then lift it from the display. Then, all you need to do is select Copy to copy the object, or you can tap Share to share the object in any application.

Locking the Hidden (and Recently Deleted) album

If you wanted to lock some photos or videos on your iPad, you had to use third-party apps to do so, which may not be ideal from a privacy perspective. Native Photos only offered the function of hiding photos, which simply moved them to the Hidden album, which is not locked in any way. However, this is no longer the case.oneThis is changing in iPadOS 16, and users can enable the Hidden album lock using Touch ID or Face ID. Just go to Settings → Photos, where you turn on either Use Touch ID, or Use Face ID. Pro hiding (and thus locking) the content is enough open or mark tap on three dots icon and choose Hide.

Find and merge duplicate content

One of the new features that pleased us in iPadOS 16 is definitely the ability to find and merge duplicate photos or videos. This content takes up the most space in the storage of Apple devices, so it is necessary to tidy up and get rid of duplicates from time to time. Until now, users had to use third-party applications to do this, but fortunately, this is a thing of the past. Duplicate detection in iPadOS 16 specifically uses artificial intelligence, so it is much more advanced than ordinary ones. Pro searching for and possibly merging duplicate content is enough in Photos move to section duplicates, where they will already be displayed. Then that's enough (bulk) mark a to merge or of course the other way aroundonechat.

Transferring photo edits

The iPad can also be used perfectly for editing photos and videos – it offers a really great display on which each content simply stands out and looks good. However, if you wanted to edit multiple photos at once on the iPad, you had to edit each one separately. So if you had dozens or hundreds of photos from one location, editing in Photos was out of the question and users switched to competing applications. However, this is also changing in iPadOS 16 and it is now possible to transfer edits. It is not complicated – first open an already edited image, where you then press the three-dot icon in the top right and select Copy edits from the menu. Then open (or select in bulk) the target photo, tap the three-dot icon again and select Paste edits.

Step back and forward when editing

As for editing, yes Apple in iPadOS 16 came with one more great improvement. If you've edited a photo or video on an Apple tablet, you've definitely found yourself in a situation where the classic back arrow, or forward arrow, would be useful. Thanks to this, you could easily "scroll" between the adjustments made and possibly go back or forward. Unfortunately, this option has not been available until now, that is, until iPadOS 16, when back and forward arrows located. You can find them specifically in the upper left corner of edit mode.
