About computers from AppIt has often been said that these are devices that are made for different types of work. Of course, we cannot deny this in any way, since Macs are really designed primarily for you to create something on them. However, the opinion that computers from Applu can't play anything because they don't have enough graphics power is already a relic these days. When Macs still had Intel processors, this statement could be confirmed, but now, with the use of chips Apple Silicon, the reality is completely different.

The latest computers from AppThe M1 chips actually offer enough performance to run newer games. There are also now top-of-the-line M1 chips. Pro, Max whether Ultra, which of course can "run" games even better than devices with the classic M1. So the performance of Macs can no longer be used as a justification for why games cannot be played on them. However, one such reason still exists, and that is the availability of games for macOS. Of course, it remains true that developers much prefer to focus on Windows, where the player base is incomparably larger. Even so, more and more titles are being created that you can also play on Mac. One such title, which was among the first to offer native support Apple Silicon, is the legendary game World of Warcraft.

Personally, I am a big fan of World of Warcraft, and even though the biggest boom is probably over (unfortunately), there are still many players who play - including me. I originally started playing the so-called WoWko on a classic computer with Windows, but as I got older and got a Mac, I just didn't want to move to a desktop anymore and I stopped playing. But that changed about a year ago when I got a 13″ MacBook Pro with M1 and I decided to try to get back into World of Warcraft. I made this decision precisely because WoW offers native support Apple Silicon, and since I assumed that the M1 chip would have enough power for enjoyable gaming.

World of Warcraft on Mac with M1: Playable or Better Not?

After about a year of playing WoW on MacBooku Pro with M1, I decided to bring you this article, in which I would like to focus on whether it is at all possible to enjoy this game on a "work laptop". First, I would like to focus on what I mentioned at the end of the previous paragraph - namely performance. To tell the truth, I was really pleasantly surprised by how the M1 chip handles World of Warcraft. Of course, you can't count on playing at the highest details while maintaining the original screen resolution. But I think that this is definitely not a problem for a game like WoW. After a long time of testing, Ionec found the optimal display and graphics settings, where I have a stable 60 FPS even in the most demanding areas and large team battles. Specifically, I have the resolution set to 1440 x 900 pixels, and the overall graphics settings at level 4, which is, among other things, the settings recommended to me by the game itself.

The graphics settings will not be the highest, but they will be enough

You might be thinking that the above settings are not much. However, it is important to mention that my MacBook It only has a 13″ screen, so the lower resolution here is not as much of a problem as on a monitor twice as large. The graphics settings are therefore quite sufficient for me and I can do without various beautifying effects. The image is definitely not blurry and does not hurt my eyes. However, as I mentioned, with this setting I mainly have a stable 60 FPS. If you are able to accept occasional FPS drops to, for example, 30, especially in more demanding areas, you can definitely set a higher resolution and graphics settings. However, I prefer frames per second rather than the visual aspect. KoneFinally, for raids or battlegrounds that are more demanding, you can set different graphics settings. I note that I play on a basic 13″ MacBooku Pro with M1, which isonem practically the same as MacBookem Air M1 that a colleague plays on, with the same settings. For example, if you own a new MacBook Pro with M1 Pro or M1 Max, you will be able to move the graphics several levels higher.

The keyboard will surprise you, the only downside is the 13″ display

I would also like to focus on how the game is controlled. I don't use any external keyboard when playing, I only use a gaming mouse, because using it trackpadu is unthinkable. Honestly I'm with the keyboard MacBooku Pro extremely satisfied both when typing and when playing. I have absolutely no problems with it, it is easy to press, the layout of the keys is absolutely ideal. The only thing that bothers me is the Touch Bar - when quickly pressing various keys at the top, it sometimes gets stuck, because I touch it and open it, for example Launchpad etc. But I also successfully solved this by installing the application Bar None, which can completely deactivate the Touch Bar, so it does not respond to any inputs while playing. As for battery life, you are able to play for a few hours, but I did not perform this type of testing, since I play with the power supply always connected. When playing, it is otherwise MacBook It gets a little warm, but it's not too bad. In addition, the fan doesn't activate, so the device handles gaming just fine. The only drawback is the 13" display, which is quite small for the game's necessary interface. However, you can still connect a larger external monitor to your Mac, then close the computer and play on the larger monitor, so this is not a problem.

záver

So if you are one of those people like me who would like to relax by playing games now and then, but you don't want to switch to a desktop computer, or if you don't have one at all, then believe me, even on MacBooku Pro you can play games with the M1 chip without any problems – and if you have a more powerful machine, the experience will be even better. The gaming experience is absolutely sufficient, even greater if you also use a larger external monitor. Of course, with the classic M1 chip you cannot count on maximal resolution and the highest graphics settings, but I think graphics are simply not that important for this type of game. As I mentioned, I've been playing WoW on a Mac with an M1 for about a year now, and in that time I've never once thought about moving back to a desktop. I don't have to worry about anything - when I feel like it, I just turn on the game on my Mac and I'm playing within seconds. Do you also play any games on your Mac? Let us know in the comments.
