What is it?
HBO Max is a streaming service replacing the current HBO GO in the HBO offer. It is de facto a film/series library offering lots of shows, both original and from world film studios. It offers more than HBO GO, although it is essentially the same. So it can be said that HBO Max is a kind of HBO GO on steroids.
When will the service arrive in the Czech Republic?
HBO announced that it will launch the service in the Czech Republic on March 8, 2022, replacing it with HBO GO.
What happens to my existing HBO GO subscription?
If you subscribe to HBO GO now, you will be able to enjoy it on the first day of availability HBO Max account automatically transferred to HBO Max with HBO GO de facto disappearing on the same day (or rather changing to HBO Max). What to do if HBO GO is prepaid through a carrier?
The same applies as in the previous point – i.e. HBO GO will automatically be converted to HBO Max without any fee. The operator himself should then contact you with the details of the transfer, who will agree with you on the details, for example, the price, etc. However, in general, it can be assumed that it will be cheaper.
How to register for the service?
Registration for the service will only be officially launched on the day of its launch – March 8, 2022. However, existing HBO GO accounts will remain active. HBO Max transferred, which in other words means that you can de facto join now HBO Max", even indirectly" register and then just wait for the automatic transfer. However, it is necessary to take into account that when registering you commit to paying, so if you are tempted by HBO Max and not HBO GO, it's better to wait until March.
How much will it cost here?
Price HBO Max in the Czech Republic is a very pleasant surprise. HBO has set it specifically at 199 CZK per month, but with the proviso that if you start subscribing to it between March 8 and the end of the same month, you will pay only 132 CZK per month for it, with this discount (i.e. 33%) being maintained for the entire period of your subscription. This is therefore an extremely advantageous offer – especially since the current HBO GO is charged at 159 CZK and that includes more than the previous version. Max less.
What will happen to HBO TV channels?
Absolutely nothing. Streaming service HBO Max will run in parallel alongside them, as was the case with HBO GO. Of course, what you see on them will also be available directly in HBO Max, so as a result, there is no need to limit yourself in any way by having to watch TV at the right time.
Need to download a new tracking app?
Yes, for viewing HBO Max you will need to have a new "special" application downloaded, as is the case with HBO GO. As for the HBO GO application, logically you will no longer be able to watch content through it, so you will be able to uninstall it from your devices. The application will be available on all platforms where you can now find HBO GO - i.e. App Store ani Google Play will not be missed.
What is available in the service?
List of individual programs in HBO Max would be very long. In general, everything you can find now on HBO GO is also available on HBO MaxWarner Bros., DC, and Cartoon Network and so on. Selected titles will be available in 4K and what's more, Warner Bros. movies will be on HBO Max available 45 days after the premiere in cinemas at no additional cost.
What about user profiles, simultaneous viewing on multiple devices or downloads?
Yes, Netflix-style user profiles will be in HBO Max available, which will make the personalization of movies and series much better than it is now. A total of five profiles for children and adults will be created, for which the service will recommend tailored content based on your preferences.
The possibility of simultaneous monitoring of the service on multiple devices is a matter of course. After all, without this trick, the introduction of user profiles probably wouldn't make much sense. The service can be watched on up to three devices at the same time without any restrictions.
The service will be dependent, like all services of the same type, on an Internet connection, but it should be added in one breath that it will be possible to download images and play them offline in places without a connection, i.e. without the need for a connection.
I received an email saying that for me, as an HBO Go subscriber, the price will be HBO Max 132/month (33% discount on monthly subscription of 199,-) until I cancel the subscription. So compared to Netflix (which I also have), the price is great.
How is it different from Netflix? Will it offer more than Netflix?
