iOS 15 has been in my hands for several days now beta testers, who can verify all the news that Apple during WWDC 2021 introduced, but at the same time they can dig into the bowels of the new system and come up with something new here and there. The improvement of the Drag and Drop function is no big secret, but testers largely confirm that it is a very practical thing that makes using the iPhone much easier.

As you can see in the video in the attached Tweet below, the Drag and Drop feature in iOS 15 works across the system and can be used between individual applications. The video clearly shows how you can take a photo from the gallery and move it across the desktop and the list of open applications to where you want it - in this case, for example, to the Mail application. The functionality of this new feature does not apply only to multimedia files, it is possible to move text fields copied from an article or more continuous text in a document in the same way.

The Drag and Drop feature between apps has been available on iPads since 2017. However, the comments (and not only) under the above tweet indicate that a large portion of users are either unaware of this feature or do not know how to use it. This could be fixed by implementing it into iOS 15 change. Due to the functionality, it should be mentioned that when using Drag and Drop, the transferred content is copied, not moved. It will therefore remain in its original position.

Activating the function is very simple, just select and hold your finger on the object, then use the other finger to close the application (or use Home Button on older iPhone models) and select the target application through the multitasking window, where the object is inserted into the selected location by moving and then lifting your finger from the screen.
