Last year at this time, Netflix was enjoying a golden age and its subscribers were growing at an explosive rate. But it was quite clear that such an increase could not last forever. Netflix gained just 4 million new subscribers in the first three months of this year, the weakest increase in four years. Last year it was 16 million. Netflix is so cautious that it has set a target of only one million subscribers for the next three months. But profit was great, at $1,71 billion, more than double last year. Revenues increased by 24% year-on-year to $7,16 billion.
