Commercial message: Controlling smart bulbs, cameras, and other gadgets via the Home app is just the beginning; a greater experience and a host of other options are offered by native iOS Shortcuts application (Shortcuts).
This useful one appku, which comes pre-installed on your iPhone or iPad, is a way to speed up and simplify tasks across apps — just put multiple actions from different apps into one shortcut and then launch them with a single click or voice command. You can also link the launch to things like the time of day, your location, or battery level.
Shortcuts also expand the possibilities of using smart products. In it, you will find functions that are missing from the Home application for various reasons. Let's show it on the example of two products of the smart home brand VOCOlinc.
Sleep mode for the VOCOlinc VAP1 smart air purifier
Air purifier natively controllable via Apple HomeKit? VOCOlinc VAP1 is the first and only such product in the world. All apple growers will appreciate it, especially now in the pollen season. While in the Home app you can set and automate its on/off and power level, the Shortcuts app also lets you play with sleep mode and child lock.
Just create a new shortcut, select the VOCOlinc app in the action and choose the product you want to automate. Then choose what you want the purifier to do. If you name the Shortcut, for example, “Night mode”, after saying this formula it will Siri starts

Privacy mode for indoor camera VOCOlinc VC1 Opto
The brand new internal camera offers a similar gadget VOCOlinc VC1 Opto, which is only a month old. It has a physical private mode that you activate or deactivate in the VOCOlinc app. However, you can start it with a voice command, or add it as part of a larger automation, right through the shortcuts. The principle is the same as for an air purifier.
Create a new shortcut, select the VOCOlinc application in the action and select the VC1 product in the drop-down list. Then select what the camera should do. If you name the Shortcut, for example, “Privacy mode”, after saying it Siri turns on.
