Personal data of 1,3 million users of the social network Clubhouse were posted on a popular hacking forum. This database contains information such as a user's ID, their name, photos, profiles in linked social networks and other profile details such as the number of followers or the date the account was created. However, the company itself does not agree that it was a data leak. CEO Clubhouse Paul Davison he immediately claimed that the articles reporting the exposed data were "misleading and false". According to his statement, all these data are public. The statement was also shared by the official profile Clubhouse on Twitter, adding that this published database can actually be accessed by any developer via the app's API.

So now the question is what is actually worse. Of course, this has raised significant concerns about the privacy of users using the app. It is thus at least debatable that anyone can download a database with a list of all users from a social network. As reported by the magazine cybernewsClubhouse should definitely re-evaluate the functionality of its API to limit the scope of data developers can access. Although the exposed database contains only public information, it could still lead to phishing.

Particularly determined attackers can combine information found in a leaked SQL database with other data to create detailed profiles of their potential victims. With such information in hand, they can evenchat identity theft of people whose information was exposed on a hacker forum.
