Does the idea of Linux distributions running on Macs with M1 processors sound appealing to you? Then we may have good news for you - these models could soon receive official Linux support. The upcoming cycle of Linux distributions, which ponewith the designation 5.13, should, according to available reports, offer compatibility with new Macs.

The aforementioned reports state that although there is still a long way to go before the final implementation, things are moving in the right direction. It is expected that Linux 5.13 should see the light of day around June this year. From the beginning, a number of individuals and groups have been working to get Linux running on new Macs - an example is the company Corellium, whose experts have successfully ported Linux to Mac mini. But so far, there has never been a full-fledged and fully functional Linux launch. The upcoming version of Linux for Macs with M1 processors should contain all the necessary tools for smooth operation in the Apple computer environment. According to available reports, developer Hector Martin has submitted a request to download the Linux kernel version 5.13. Martin is also working on the Asahi Linux project, and in this context he also states that the m1n1 boot loader, the Linux Arm64 boot protocol and other elements are being developed within this project. If you are interested in the aforementioned Linux distribution from Corellia, you can find everything you need at this link on GitHub – but the creators point out that this is not a full-fledged version.
