There is probably no doubt that the gaming giant Epic Games is slowly but surely taking a large share of the gaming market. And it is no wonder, the company has earned a lot of money thanks to the game Fortnite and is trying to invest wherever it can. A prime example is the newly announced Unreal Engine 5, which has taken the breath away from developers and completely excited fans. However, to make matters worse, it has also prepared studio one more surprise. And that is the Live Link Face app for iOS, which allows developers to take advantage of the iPhone camera and TrueDepth features. The icing on the cake is the active integration of augmented reality using ARKitu.
If you are wondering what the application is for, the answer is easy. It significantly simplifies motion capture, i.e. capturing actors and virtual rendering in real time. Thanks to the Live Link Face application, developers now only need one actor, which is captured by the iPhone's camera. The software accommodates most mimic muscles and head tilts, so there is no need to use a constellation of sensors or the path of the device. Although we will probably have to wait some time for a complete replacement of motion capture, the developers from Epic Games have once again demonstrated that they can innovate. Thanks to this technology, even smaller studios will be able to afford to capture actors, and we could expect more realistic games and avatars in the future.

You will also be pleased with the simplicity of the entire setup process, during which there is no need to spend several hours attaching sensors and going through the frustrating setup of the software itself. So we can only hope that game developers will take advantage of the application as soon as possible, as this is still a relatively new technology that cannot yet be compared to more expensive and professional solutions.
