We've already seen it. From July 1st of this year, O2 will launch its 5G network, specifically in the center of Prague and in Kolín, where the operator tested the next-generation network in non-public operation last year. The network will run at a frequency of 3,7 GHz with a transfer speed of 500 to 800 Mbps. Pro Nokia will supply the technology for Kolín, and Huawei for Prague. However, the supplier foroneThe lead company for the construction of fifth-generation networks has not yet been decided. But it will be either Ericsson or one of the two mentioned above.

According to O2, the current situation allows for speeds of 600/100 Mbps. However, O2's chief technology officer announced that if the frequency auction allows, the operator will increase the speed in the future. CEO Jindřich Freumuth also spoke about the frequency auction, adding that the further development and expansion of the 5G network will depend on the conditions of the auction, as the current situation is not favorable. However, coverage will be limited. In Prague, it will be the center, Vinohrady and Letna, which will be responsible for approximately 50 base stations. By the end of the summer, O2 would like to cover 5% of Prague's population with a 15G signal. In Cologne, it will be the city center. The service will be offered as part of packages for 1 crown, but only for tariffs that have 4 GB of data and more. For plans with unlimited data, this will be possible for those that do not have a data rate limit.
Isn't that speed a bit slow? Wasn't it said that 5G will have speeds in the order of gigabits? And that's just the theoretical speed, in practice it will definitely go even slower under load.
The main bonus is the response
At 3,7 GHz, it's a super speed. The highest speeds are announced in the 60GHz band.
It sounds like they have to invest a lot and it is defacto one transmitter.
600/100 mega/sec is great to start with. What about our peeps from NUKIB and BIS, that 5G will run in Prague via Huawei? Did they already allow us to do that from the US? 😀😂
Nicely written :D
Oh my God, especially not HUAWEI, when several countries around the world have just "banned" this company as a potential 5G network provider...
Huawei as a 5G site builder? ProNo.
There is not much for a builder, and anyway, only politicians with an unclear career end are afraid of any spying :-D
