In connection with the current coronavirus pandemic, measures are being introduced in many places that are intended to minito reduce the risk of infection. Customers of stores are recommended to use contactless card payments – however, this is only possible up to a certain limit (in the Czech Republic, this is 500 crowns), and if the limit is exceeded, the customer cannot avoid manually entering the PIN code into the terminal. While in our country, around mid-April, there has been no uniform increase in the limit for contactless payments (resetting the limit is an individual decision of individual banks and is not a simple matter), in Slovakia it was decided to increase the limit for contactless payments from the original 20 euros to 50 euros. The decision came into effect last night.
Increasing limits for contactless payments without the need to manually enter a PIN code should help reduce the risk of infection oneCOVID-19 pandemic. The increase in the transaction limit was approved after negotiations between the National Bank of Slovakia and the Slovak Banking Association. Slovakia was among the first countries in Europe to introduce the possibility of contactless card payments, and almost all cards and POS terminals in the country currently support contactless technology. According to available data, most transactions at merchants are indeed contactless; in 2019, contactless payments accounted for 29% of all card transactions. The average transaction amount for a physical card payment in Slovakia last year was 46 euros, for payments by mobile phoneonem it was 19 euros, and the average amount when withdrawing cash from an ATM was 165 euros.
Any contactless payment method – whether by card, phoneonem or perhaps a smart watch – represents not only the fastest payment method in the current situation, but given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is also the safest payment method from a health perspective. The spokesperson for the National Bank of Slovakia, Peter Majer, recommends that clients of all Slovak banks prioritize payment by card, mobile phone, or other means when making payments in stores.onem or smart watches. "This way they protect themselves and at the same time help speed up their purchase," said Majer.

Madar: I still have to borrow the €50 :D
It's interesting that I keep referring to people of your type, Slovaks, as Hungarian, and at the same time, when the guild tries to talk in Slovak, it's already a proper Hungarian.
The loss then becomes even more expensive...
