If you're a fan of space exploration, you must have had today circled on your calendar for a long time. The InSight space probe, which already took off into space on May 5, is scheduled to land on the red planet today. On that one, she should primarily examine its underground composition, thanks to which scientists should soon be able to answer a whole range of questions that have not yet been clarified due to a lack of information. We should learn, for example, what state the planet's core is in.

We have already dedicated an article to the InSight probe today. Nevertheless, it certainly won't hurt to recapitulate a few interesting facts. Perhaps the most interesting is that, unlike its colleague CuriosThe lander will not move on the surface of Mars, but will remain in the same place it lands after landing. The probe will drill a hole next to it, which should be about five meters deep, through which it should analyze, for example, heat flow. Based on the measurements, scientists on the ground will then unravel details about the red planet.
In general, today's landing of the probe can be described as a breakthrough in the exploration of Mars, which could significantly bring the first flight of a human crew to this planet. This is something that has been talked about more and more recently and it is only a matter of time before humanity decides to do it. However, before people embark on this long journey from which there may be no return, they need to know as much detail as possible about the planet. Only in this way can the probability of success of the entire mission be increased.
