In today's review, we look at mid-range wireless headphones - the JBL Everest Elite 150 NC. As the name already suggests, this is the lowest model of the premium Everest Elite series, which also has the function of active suppression of ambient sound. Due to its compact size, it could be an ideal travel companion, so let's take a closer look at the headphones.
Specifications
As usual, we'll start with a look at the official specifications. This time, the sound is handled by a pair of 12mm drivers with a frequency range of 10-22kHz, a sensitivity of 94dB@1kHz and maxwith a maximum volume of 105 dB. Up to 16 hours of battery life is provided by an integrated 400 mAh battery with a two-hour charging time. The headphones have two microphones for "crystal clear calls", a function of noise cancellation and highlighting of surrounding events. They weigh a pleasant 53 grams and are available on the Czech market in one color varia(gray-silver).
Package contents
Since this is a higher range of headphones, the contents of the package correspond to it. In it, in addition to the headphones themselves, we also find two more sets (one is already installed from the factory) of plugs and ear tips according to size – S, M and L. Thanks to this, the headphones should fit almost everyone, given the possible combinations of these ergonomic elements . In addition, the package also includes a semi-hard packaging for transport. Then standard documents and cable for charging.
Quality of processing
In terms of processing, there is not much to criticize about the headphones. It can be seen on them that it is a higher series and the quality of the processing and the materials used corresponds to it. Not all headphones have basically two surfaces: high-quality plastic and rubber coating, which is found on almost the entire surface of the headphones, except for the control panels (see photo). The fit of the parts, especially the buttons, is fine and the individual controls offer good feedback. The silicone plugs and inserts are well made and comfortable to wear (even from a longer-term point of view).
Ergonomics
In terms of control and handling, we won't find anything here that is in any way above standard. On the right control panel we find the on/off button, Bluetooth pairing and an adjustable button whose function can be programmed in the accompanying application (see below). On this panel there is also a blank for charging, a status diode and one of the two microphones. On the second panel we find the play/pause button and two buttons for adjusting the volume/switching songs. That's all from the physical controls, thanks to their location on the neck bridge, the buttons are relatively accessible and handling is comfortable.
To further configure the headphones, you need the companion JBL Headphone app.ones, which is available for free at App Store. Here it is possible (after pairing with headphones) to set the level of ambient sound permeability (Ambient Aware) and to turn on or off active noise cancellation. There is also an equalizer with several presets and custom settings, the function of programming a special button (either to turn on/off ANC, or change the Ambient Aware level) and the ability to update the firmware.
Sound quality
But let's get to the most important thing, which is the quality of sound production. JBL boasts the marketing name "JBL Pro Sound" for this model, which should indicate that these are headphones offering more of a reference listening experience, not the classic slightly over-bassed and definitely not neutral "JBL Sound". Practice confirms this and the JBL Everest Elite 150 NC play really well, although there are certain limitations given primarily by the dimensions. drivegt;
These limitations are most noticeable when you play music on maxmaximum possible volume with the ANCAt this point the headphones stop being able to handle the more pronounced bass lines and start to experience slight distortions in the sound. This is due to the small size. driveand how the headphones try to cancel out ambient sounds on the one hand and play the bass line on the other.
In practice, however, this is not too much of a problem, because with the ANC (which works really well), no need to play music on maximal 100% volume. I tested the headphones on the bus, tram and metro and they had no problem in any environment. The ambient noise cancellation works great and combined with the very good sound of the headphones themselves, listening is a joy. I did not turn on the ambient noise enhancement function because I did not find its purpose.
záver
If you are looking for good-sounding headphones that will be your partner on the go, and you also require the presence of high-quality ambient noise cancellation, but at the same time you have a requirement for a compact size, the JBL Everest Elite 150 NC is a good choice. The headphones play really well, are light, easy to wear and control. The durability is adequate for the size and the ability to remove ambient noise is more than sufficient. If you don't want to go the route of large on-ear/over-ear models, these "hundreds" are definitely worth a try.
