I'll admit something to you right at the beginning - I really "eat" music. I'm not afraid to boldly say that if it weren't for music, I wouldn't be here either. Music means a lot to me because I listen to it everywhere. Whether it's on the way to school in the car, while cleaning or at work. And I want to stop at work. Because for the magazine Letem svetem Applem I've been writing articles every day for several months now, so I have a certain routine in place. I simply listen to a certain style of music while I write articles, so that I don't get distracted and feel relaxed at the same time.

All this time I was listening to music from the classic EarPods that you Apple bundled with every iPhone. Although the cable sometimes bothered me and I wondered a few times what it would be like to have wireless headphones, but I never got around to buying one or at least trying it out. When the opportunity to try the Urbanears Plattan II wireless headphones appeared in the editorial office, I didn't hesitate for a moment, because it could mean a "revolution" for me in the way I worked until now. So, after a few days with these headphones, I bring you a review in which I will try to describe all my observations.

Official specification

I usually start each review with the official specs in the form of a few numbers and terms, and this case will be no different. Urbanears is a Swedish brand that is quite well-known, especially in street culture. It is known primarily for the high-quality sound and the very good design of its products. The first generation of these headphones was introduced almost ten years ago in 2009. From then until 2016, the headphones have seen countless improvements. At the end of 2016, the company decided to release the second generation of its popular headphones, and we will focus on those in today's review.

The Urbanears Plattan II headphones feature 40mm drivers with impedancí 32 ohms. The frequency range is then 10 Hz to 20 kHz, the sensitivity reaches 99 db. The weight of the headphones does not exceed 130 g, so the headphones are very light. A very interesting part of the headphones is the joystick, with which you can change the music and control the volume - but more about the joystick later. The last thing I will mention in this paragraph is the ZoundPlug function - on the left earcup there is an output for 3,5 mm jack, which allows you to connect a second pair of headphones. The person with the second pair of headphones can then listenchat the same music you listen to.

Packaging and processing

The packaging of the Urbanears Plattan II headphones is quite simple and certainly nothing to be ashamed of. If you decide to buy these headphones, you can look forward to a small, stylish box. On the front of this box is the name of the headphones and Urbanears branding. On the other pages, there are variously illustrated Plattan II headphones, then the picture on the back is interesting, where there is a detailed description of all the advantages and functions of these headphones. Inside the package itself, of course, are the Urbanears Plattan II headphones themselves, but there must also be a rechargeable microUSB cable together with a book presenting instructions in several languages.

In terms of processing, these headphones are of very high quality, both in terms of sound and design. The design of the headphones is really unique and what surprised me personally is that the headphones are really light. The earcups are small and you can't put your whole ear in them, but even so, they isolate the headphones very well from the surrounding noise. In addition, if you want to take the headphones somewhere, you can simply fold them by "breaking" the shells. The bridge connecting the two shells is wonderfully flexible and will definitely adapt to any head shape.

Overall, I really enjoy the workmanship of these headphones. It is most likely due to the surface treatment - I specifically have the blue color labeled Indigo for testing. A total of ten colors are available, including white, red, pink and more. You will definitely find the one that you like the most.

In the last paragraph of this section, I would like to “introduce” you to the joystick, which is located on the right earcup. In appearance, this joystick resembles a button, but don’t be fooled – it is not a classic button. You can use this joystick to pause the music, and by pushing it in different directions, you can skip tracks or change the volume. If you combine the pressing and pushing options in different directions, you can rewind the tracks. The good news is that these headphones are compatible with both Android and iOSSo you can make and control calls with them without any problems. On iOS with these headphones you can even activate Siri – just double-click.

Sound and endurance

I listen to music every day, but I'm not a complete music fanatic. Personally, I mostly prefer rap and classic disco, in any case, I tried the headphones on almost all possible genres. At the beginning, I noticed a slightly lackluster bass, but as is the case with all headphones, it takes a while to play out. After a few hours, I didn't have any problems with the bass either. The headphones play really well, they handle any type of music without a problem. Personally, I think that the Urbanears Plattan II headphones perform perfectly even considering their price tag, and will definitely suit most users.

Another issue is long-term listening to music. It is very common for headphones to not last more than a few hours. However, this scenario does not happen with the Urbanears Plattan II headphones. From personal experience, I can say that even after six hours, when I hardly ever took the headphones off, they did not hurt my head or ears. On the contrary, I would even be able to wear the headphones on my head withoutchat for the next few hours. I owe this mainly to the very comfortable ear cups, which adapt to your ears like a pot's bottom. Of course, I must not forget to mention the joystick, thanks to which you can easily adjust what you want to listen to.chat.

And what about the battery life of the headphones? Simply put – absolutely fantastic. I charged the headphones to 100% for the first time five days ago and on average I listened to music for about three hours a day. That's a total of fifteen hours and the headphones still haven't needed charging. The manufacturer states on the box that the battery life is over 30 hours, which is completely realistic in my opinion. By the way, neither AirPods from AppThey can't play for 30 hours straight on a single charge.

záver

If you are looking for headphones that are an absolute gem in terms of design and sound great at the same time, then the Urbanears Plattan II are the right choice. Personally, I have no problem with them even after listening for a long time. The sound of the headphones is clear, noise-free and, above all, not over-bassed. In my opinion, you will also absolutely love the joystick on the right earcup, because it will save you a lot of time that you would waste in the classic skipping of songs. In addition, the battery lasts a really long time, so you don't have to worry about the Urbanears Plattan II headphones ever letting you down.
