Press Release: Synology Company® Inc. announced the official release of the Surveill serviceance Station 8.2. This version introduces LiveCam, a brand new security camera app that instantly turns an unused phone into an IP camera. A version for the system is currently available iOS, the Android version will be released in October. The redesigned DS cam app offers improved performance and also expands the list of supported hardware to include IP speakers. In addition to a host of updated features, the app also introduces a next-generation App Center offering greater flexibility in managing apps.

“Thanks to the combination of LiveCam capabilities in the system iOS and the brand new DS cam application has been added to the Surveill serviceance Station into the mobile age, where it can turn your phone into a security camera and access video footage via the DS cam app,” said Ivan Chang, Product Manager at Synology Inc. “With features like Smart Time Lapse, Dual Authentication, and IP Speaker support, Surveillance Station solution ready to be integrated into projects”.

Surveillance serviceance Station 8.2 includes the following new features:

  • With the LiveCam app, it can turn mobile phones into cameras: Your mobile device can become an IP camera. After installing the LiveCam application on your mobile phone, you can add this phone to the Surveill service.ance Station as an IP camera that can record on the go. Make use of unused devices.

  • An app center that just knows what you need: The new style of add-ons called App Center offers up to 26 apps and tools. Using the category filter or keyword search, you can quickly find the app you want and Surveillance Station so customize.

  • Redesigned DS cam app with extraordinary performanceonehas compatibility: The next generation of the DS cam application offers not only a clearer viewing environment, but also multiple timeline functions that allow intuitive video search. In addition, thanks to offline license verification, you can deploy the system easily and much faster.

  • Now also support for IP speakers: Surveillance serviceance Station 8.2 can broadcast audio or set up scheduled broadcasts to integrated IP speakers. In multi-speaker deployments, both individual and group broadcasts are available.

  • Oversee a large-scale project with time-lapse: Time-lapse cuts long videos down to minutes or even seconds. This application is primarily used to view the progress of a large-scale project from inception to completion.

  • Data protection with two-factor authentication: Two-factor authentication restricts the use of sensitive functions, such as camera management or video access, to only those authorized by another person, thus providing a more flexible access management measure. This additional level of protection prevents the leakage of sensitive information.

  • Broadcast to the world using the Live Broadcast app: Share your excitement with the world via a live stream to YouTube with no setup required. Just select the camera and enter the path information provided by YouTube. Live streaming is ready for action.
