A former unit in the field of virtual music players announces its return from retirement. The legend in the form of Winamp, which became famous mainly at the beginning of the 21st century, will receive an update, which will also include a brand new mobile application. The Desktop version will not be an exception, as we will also see news on Mac and PC computers. As today's time is dominated by streaming elements in the form of Apple Music or Spotify, this attempt may seem like waking up a dead and outdated system. However, Winamp still has a rock-solid user community that deserves new features and goodies associated with the mobile app, according to executives.

By using the new version of Winamp, we will be able to enjoy playing music, podcasts or streaming radio in one place on our mobile. After the upcoming update in the form of 5.8, which should take care of bug fixes and various problems with the user interface, the announced version 6.0 will follow. It is the "six" that will represent a kind of revolution aimed mainly at devices with the system iOS and Android. This will be the first major update since 2013. Winamp has been around since 1997, with its golden age mainly at the turn of the millennium.

This is what the classic retro skins for the Winamp music player looked like:

The application will work with the desktop version in an effort to focus on the user interface so that Winamp becomes a comprehensive element in listening to music for all users. It is not yet confirmed which services the new version of Winamp will work with, but most likely we will see support from Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer or Google Music, which will offer to implement a music library into this player. The information about the return of Winamp and its subsequent expansion to mobile phones will probably please everyone who has enjoyed music thanks to this legendary player. However, it is highly unlikely that the application will catch on even in today's era of full competition. A new version of Winamp 6 is planned for 2019.
