Although most of us are familiar with the new authentication technology Face ID only slowly getting used to it and having a hard time saying goodbye to a favorite Touch ID, in laboratories Applu may already have its successor in the works. According to patent applications, Apple is increasingly focusing on voice authentication, which could be called Voice ID. Thanks to this, we could not only access the device, but also, for example, HomeI can use some personalization that would HomePod started playing our personal playlist or something similar at our request. So let's take a closer look at Voice ID.

What exactly is Voice ID?

This is a system that should be able to detect certain instructions from the user. At this point, it would be a classic assistant, such as SiriThe main change would be to “listen” only to the authorized owner of the device, based on the frequency of their voice and a few other key attributes. In short, the situation can be described as simply saying “Hey Siri, unlock my iPhone.” and the phone would actually unlock. But if the same command were uttered by a person who did not own the phone, Siri Of course she wouldn't listen to him.

How could Voice ID work?

The vast majority of users may doubt this technology, and quite rightly so. We have not had the opportunity to see anything like this before and some of us may even consider it unreal. But Apple is known for new innovations that can surprise end users and pleasantly warm their hearts. The official description of the function is based on the aforementioned frequency, pronunciation and manner of speaking of a particular person (pauses, pauses, stuttering, etc.). Simply put, everything would work in such a way that the phone receives a command, compares it according to a complex algorithm and evaluates the result - whether it is an authorized person or not.

In case the authentication fails, the same procedure as we know so far would be followed. In case of failure of functions such as Touch ID or Face ID The user just needs to enter their access code and can happily continue with their previous activities.

When will we see Voice ID technology?

Because it Apple has never boasted of working on similar novelties until now, and all information is drawn from the documents of the patent office, any date of presentation is completely unclear. Similar patent already Apple owns from 2011, which suggests that the apple company has been considering this innovation for some time. This technology would be a huge benefit, for example, for HomeUnder which it would open up completely new possibilities.

Unfortunately, not all patents AppThe technology may not reach the public at all.
