We are exactly 7 days away from the launch of the new generation of Pixel smartphones from Google, which is enough time for the first photo tests. The portal took care of them MacRumorswho managed one Google Pixel 3 XL before sales start. Thanks to this, we can get a great picture of the camera quality of Google's new flagships, which, according to Google, are perfect when it comes to photography.

Editors pitted the Pixel 3 XL against a new iPhone XS MaxWhile the Pixel has a single-lens 12,2 MP camera, iPhone XS Max boasts a classic dual camera with 12 MPx on both lenses. Google is making up for the absence of one lens with artificial intelligence and advanced software. According to Google, there should be no problem with zooming in on photos, for example. Although the Pixel only has digital zoom, its software should capture images when zooming in, from which it will then compose the resulting photo. Thanks to this, the photos should be of very good quality, even despite the digital zoom.
The Pixel also has a portrait mode that can blur the background behind in-focus subjects. Interestingly, although this feature is again software-only, compared to the iPhonem XS Max is a little better. From the photo, which you can see in the gallery below this paragraph, it is quite clear that the Pixel did a better job of detecting the edges of the object, which are significantly more pronounced in the photo, which makes the photo look better. The Pixel also managed to reduce the light coming from the window behind the bottles, which is present in the photo from the iPhone XS Max quite distracting. You should also be able to get better photos when taking photos with the front camera. While iPhone XS Max It only has one lens, while Google gave the Pixel 3 two lenses on the front.

iPhone XS Max on the contrary, at least according to the photos, it has the upper hand in both good and bad lighting conditions, when its photos appear much more vivid and colorful. In complete darkness, the differences between the cameras slightly disappear. Both models handle these photos relatively well, at least according to the photo test. However, it should be noted that a sophisticated night photo mode will arrive on the Pixel 3 in one of the future updates, which should significantly improve photos captured in the dark. It will therefore be better to wait a few more weeks to evaluate this type of photos.

In general, the cameras of both smartphones can only be described in superlative terms. Compared to previous generations of smartphones, they have visibly improved significantly and thus come closer to classic cameras. However, we do not want to get into highlighting one or the other model. It would be rather a subjective opinion. You can enter the comments
The pixels were always defective and of poor quality for 25 thousand nonsense 😒
And in a couple of weeks they will start to sell like androids for 3k.
Both – any proof? Well, the only thing I can think of is mine. iPad Mini. Unless it restarts by itself. On the contrary, the Note 8 is completely fine. Yeah, I still had it iPhone 6 Plus. But thank God I don't have that anymore 🙃 The important thing is that a person has something to console themselves with 🙃
Your photo gallery is a tragedy.
Totally agree, it's a shame for such a popular and traditional site.
Unfortunately, articles here comparing photo quality are completely out of place. When I want to compare the differences, I click on the comparison and two windows open. miniature windows in which I am not able to compare even the color tone, let alone the details and sharpness of the photos, so this is a complete waste of time for both parties.
The smarter ones among us will click on the previews and you don't have to look at two small windows :-)
What portet is better? Shit, the person who took the picture is a mamlas! And especially with Xs, the background is not blurred, but according to the distance from the object!
So where do they not cope?
So they can't write that the news Applu takes average photos…..
It seems to me that the pixel has better color rendering
Portrait mode on iPhones unusable… Areas around hair DISASTER… I would love to use portrait mode but it's just a waste of time and a total dialer… Shame Apple... I haven't even seen the Pixel live in portrait mode, but you can see from the photo above that it can also handle hair...
I don't see any difference…
Well, you probably can't expect MacRumour to want a different test result. I saw another video yesterday where the result was completely opposite.

Pixel's object edge detection is really better for a portrait (with a person), but what it showed on the photo with the seagull is a decent hallucination. The sea below the seagull is sharp, blurred on the sides, sharp in the background on the left, blurred on the right. It looks like a failed retouch. Absolutely useless photo.
I don't see any difference there, they are both lubricants...
Even the older Pixel 2, after the latest camera update, puts the new iPhones on their knees when it comes to photography. Let alone a triple :) A sad reality for the owner of an apple, for whom nothing else can ever be better than their pet :D
And about the stuck system, maybe the only one who didn't have a Pixel should probably not comment.
