According to director Bohdan Čermák, the film Heart of the Zone was made under amateur conditions in the Karlovy Vary region and is inspired by the Chernobyl disaster. According to him, 90% of the film was shot on iPhone 6, the remaining 10% was then added to last year's iPhone X.
