From the "six" to the XS in person: What impression will the new one make? iPhone XS for owners of older iPhones?

About getting a new one this year after years iPhone, I have had virtually no doubts for the last few months. However, almost until the last moment I could not decide whether to try the 5,8” model or to fulfill my dream in a way with a larger one. Maxem. The “Plus” iPhones have been tempting me in recent months and Max seemed like the best option. NakoneBut I decided to go for a smaller phone because of the weight and compactness. After all, going from a “six” weighing 129 grams to an XS Max At 208 grams, it seemed a little crazy to me. On the other hand, the 177 grams of the iPhone XS are much easier to bite into.

When I first got my new phone in my hands, peeled off the film and turned it on, it was almost immediately clear to me that I had made the right decision. The relatively compact size together with the huge 5,8” display suits me perfectly and as time goes by I can imagine less and less that I would find any additional use for the 6,5” display. On the other hand, I believe that for users accustomed to the “plus” versions it will be Max godsend. 

As the owner of an aluminum iPhone 6, I was really impressed with the workmanship of the new XS. The glass combined with the steel frame is literally a feast for the eyes. However, don't take this to mean that aluminum doesn't have its charms, quite the opposite. But the neighbor's grass is always a little greener, and after years I had tooneagain, the approach, which may have caused the enthusiasm. Leaving aside the design, I must also mention that compared to the "six", the XS holds up much better without any cover, even though it is slightly larger. The paradox is that both phones feel roughly the same weight, although there is a difference of about fifty grams between them.

The display is an unseen fairy tale

If, like me, you're switching from a model that's a few years old, your chin will drop a few times, and once it's because of the display. In short, it is phenomenal and cannot be compared to the iPhone 6. It is noticeably softer, the colors are more vivid, everything is perfectly sharp on it and it did not use as exclusive black as the display is capable of displaying Apple perhaps not even to print the manual in the box of the "six". From the classic rectangle, you will get used to the new shape with rounded corners and an upper cutout in no time, and after a few hours of using it, the rectangular classic will start to feel a bit boring. 

What will definitely excite you is Face IDTo be honest, I never dreamed I would be so happy with it, because I never really thought about where everything was. Touch ID I use it to log in or unlock. Not only is it Face ID fast, but in short, it asks practically nothing of you. While with Touch ID you had to place your finger on the sensor, Face ID It scans you in the blink of an eye and voilà, access to everything is at your disposal. My fears about unlocking my phone in the car or in bed were not realized either. Face ID it can handle your face even if you are not directly in front of the phone or if you are still wrinkled after a few hours of sleep and half of your face is still buried in the pillow. I am already looking forward to winter, just because of how much I will enjoy unlocking my phone in the freezing cold without having to take my thumb out of my glove.

Charging was also a nightmare for me. The "six" could last for a while without any problems, but when the first tests of charging new iPhones with a 5W adapter appeared, my hair stood on end. Three hours "from zero to one hundred" is simply a breeze. Sure, a fast charger will reduce this time considerably, because it Apple does not come in boxes, for many users this is varianta is prohibited. But I am pleased to say that charging with a 5W adapter is not a problem either. iPhone The XS has a great battery life, which ensures that even with intensive use you won't completely discharge it by the evening. As a result, you don't put it on the charger with 0%, but, for example, with 30%, which of course significantly shortens the time needed to recharge. Moreover, let's face it, how many of us charge our phones other than overnight. If you belong to the group of "night chargers", you probably don't care too much whether your phone is charged at 2 am or 7 am. The important thing is that it is at 100% in the morning, and that's it. 

I probably don't even need to mention the speed of the phone, as it is clear that compared to the four-year-old model, the XS clearly has the upper hand. On the other hand, I have to say that despite the worse condition of the battery, I did not encounter any significant limitations with the previous model and its use was quite smooth until the last moment. Of course, not in the same way as on the iPhone XS. 

When taking pictures becomes fun just because of what you have in your pocket

Probably the most amazing thing about the iPhone XS is its camera for me. I have to say right away that I am no photography expert, I don't really take a thousand photos a month and the camera on the iPhone 6 seems to be of very good quality to me. At least it arrived last Friday. The XS is truly incredible in this regard and you will love the photos it can capture. As I have never enjoyed taking photos in the sense that I would walk outside with the sole intention of capturing great photos, with the XS I am slowly catching on to this wave. You have something in your hand that you are already sure in advance that the photo you take will be really worth it and you enjoy every press of the shutter so that you can then spend a few tens of seconds melting away at how amazing the subject is photographed. It really takes me a long time nesthello, just to walk around outside and get the urge to take some pictures. But that's not the case with iPhonem XS in my pocket changes. I feel a bit crazy when I stop after a few dozen meters, pull my phone out of my pocket and leave my girlfriend waiting next to me while I melt over the amazing (and nothing special) photo I took a few seconds ago, but you just can't help it. Everyone will fall in love with the camera, regardless of whether you're switching from an iPhone 4S, 6 or 8.

However, not to just praise, there are also things that turn me off a bit. Probably the biggest one is the inability to put the phone on its back without a cover without it wobbling because of the dual camera. Sure, you can put a cover on it and prevent the wobbling. But isn't it a shame to hide the great design under a thick cover? I think it definitely is. But the fear of damaging the camera still bothers meoneck will make its acquisition. The second thing that makes me sad is not so much the fault of the iPhone itself, but directly Applu. One of the reasons I was thinking about iPhonem XS Max it was also that I expected him to Apple will allow for more sophisticated multitasking, which we know from iPads, for example, and which I think is really cool. Unfortunately, nothing like that happens, even though the display is already capable of it miniat least for the larger model, it's big enough. But we'll stay with the software features for a while. I'm also incredibly irritated by the lack of support so far Apple Pay, which would move the apple ecosystem in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to a completely new level. If here Apple introduced this service (and perhaps a few others with it), the prices of its products would start to make much more sense to many people and Apple fans wouldn't have to be pigeonholed as people who need to prove something to themselves with expensive electronics. But now we may deserve this label a little. We are using something whose potential we are not yet able to fully exploit. The last minus is the contents of the package, which we have become somewhat accustomed to in recent years, so I'm asking myself whether the absence of a fast charger is even worth it. AppI'm guilty.

So how would I iPhone From the perspective of a long-time iPhone 6 user, did you evaluate the XS? Of course, it is a perfect phone. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it looks like last year's model and yes, in a year it may be surpassed in some ways. But it offers me incredible possibilities that you simply have to enjoy, even though it is often not a complete novelty. As users of an older iPhone, you will be excited about such stupidity as 3D Touch.
