Make room
Disk space is often in short supply. Over time, your Mac may have accumulated unnecessary attachments from various emails or messengers, duplicate or unnecessary photos, or perhaps applications that you don't actually plan to use in the future. And that's exactly what needs to be done.
První věcí, kterou spatříte po spuštění svého Macu, je jeho plocha: začněte s úklidem hned u ní. Promažte všechny nepotřebné soubory, ty ostatní přehledně roztřiďte do příslušných složek. Nevypadá takto uklizená plocha hned lépe? Vaše další kroky by měly vést do Finderu, specifically to the Downloads folder. Take a deep breath, try not to panic and … sort the files in the folder by size. This way you can easily find out what is taking up the most space – you might be surprised how many large files you don’t actually use. Newer macOS can already make cleaning your hard drive much easier. Just click on -> About this Mac -> Storage -> Manage, select Cleanup -> Browse files in the menu. But be careful when cleaning this way - the files deleted in this way do not end up in the trash, but disappear from your Mac forever. You might be surprised at how much of your disk space is taken up by message attachments. You can easily search for them via Spotlight (Spotlight is activated with the keyboard shortcut Cmd + space), in which you enter the term "Mail Downloads". You can view the attachments one by one and delete all the ones you don't need. Even so, your Mac can be given a few tens or hundreds of MB extra.
If you plan to download new software, also try to free up space for it by removing the software you no longer use. Most applications just need to be moved to the trash, specialized software is used to perfectly remove applications that leave behind residues on the computer. You can also delete applications via Apple Menu -> About this Mac -> Storage -> Manage, where you click on Applications in the left panel.
And what about the outside?
Klávesnice Macu je někdy i navzdory vší snaze zachovat čistotu doslova magnetem na prach, drobné nečistoty i bakterie. Pokud s Macem používáte externí klávesnici, odpojte ji před samotným čištěním od počítače, případně z ní vyjměte baterie. V případě, že se chystáte čistit klávesnici MacBooku, vypněte svůj jablečný laptop a odpojte ho ze sítě. Nečistot můžete klávesnici částečně zbavit stlačeným vzduchem, můžete ji také opatrně zvednout do vzduchu klávesami dolů a obezřetně jemně vyklepat. Přestože snad většina z vás ví, co na klávesnici patří a co ne, pro jistotu připomínáme, že voda s prostředkem na nádobí klávesnici vašeho jablečného miláčka v žádném případě neprospěje. Nebojte se investovat do speciálních hadříků i čisticích prostředků – váš Mac vám poděkuje. Hadříky navíc můžete bez obav otřít i zbytek těla počítače a potažmo displej.
